Believe it or not, the p/c spots are there for use of a parent with a child up to the age of 12

:eek: 12?? That's really bad. I was thinking 7 or 8 and that was to old

There IS no law. Presumably, consultant31 is referring to a particular company's own "rules".

One of my locals, can't remember if it is Tesco or Asda states up to 12 and using a child seat, basically the same as the law on child seats. My Tesco has many of the P&C spaces well away from the store but they are wide spaces with a footpath leading to a zebra crossing helping make it safer to park and get the kids to the shop.

I always park as far away from the store as possible to cut down the chances of my car being bumped by a trolley.

It's a good job you didn't have your children 20 years ago, when there were no P&C spaces, or even more, when you may (God forbid) have had to walk or get the bus to the shops.

20 years ago there were less cars on the road ;) & i get the bus or walk plenty of times with my two, though i fail to see what that has to do with parent and child spaces in a supermarket car park. disabled spaces havent been there forever either.

Of course there were fewer cars on the road, but when people did use the car, they had to park in ordinary, narrow spaces. And they managed. The way some posters have moaned on here, you would think that they absolutely CANNOT park in an ordinary space.

Disabled spaces are a legal requirement. P&C spaces are a gimmick to attract parents to supermarkets.
