I always park as far away from the store as possible to cut down the chances of my car being bumped by a trolley.0

20 years ago there were less cars on the road& i get the bus or walk plenty of times with my two, though i fail to see what that has to do with parent and child spaces in a supermarket car park. disabled spaces havent been there forever either.

Of course there were fewer cars on the road, but when people did use the car, they had to park in ordinary, narrow spaces. And they managed. The way some posters have moaned on here, you would think that they absolutely CANNOT park in an ordinary space.
Disabled spaces are a legal requirement. P&C spaces are a gimmick to attract parents to supermarkets.0
