Hello everyone, good luck to charlies mum for the wedding, hope its a lovely day and to all those with poorly OHs. Looking a bit overcast here in MK, might brighten up later. Got the slow cooker on with some beef and lots of veg. Got to take the dog out and then got a friend round for a cuppa and a natter. Have a good day duddles x
  • Morning, sun is shining and the dds' are cleaning the sitting room, oh has gone out so it's peaceful and ds is asleep, so all is happy in the saver household!

Actually I don't think dds are happy about cleaning really, but they made the mess, oh had a right old go at them telling them to tidy, but as I explained, telling them to tidy isn't enough cos they don't understand the same thing by it as we do, even though I tell them often enough! They need specifics, clear the stuff from the mantelpiece, move your clothes, put the toys away, take out the breakfast stuff........

Nothing much planned for today, more blackberrying I hope at some point, well the dog will need walking so might as well make it productive! Washing can be hung out, so should get uniforms and bedding all done today. Will be throwing something in the bm, prob pizza for lunch, but may just do rolls. Can't remember what dinner tonight was, prob something that uses up veg box leftovers! Marrow and celery soup anyone?!

Beth - I am so glad that Ben will be coming home with you today, I hope that all his tests have good results and that there has been no lasting damage xxx

Aussie - lovely top, oh was looking over my shoulder and said "oh, who's that?" I think you have a fan!

N9eav - cake sounds fab, take care with it! I had to drive over the downs once with a dragon shaped cake, I was terrified I was going to damage it, but despite the fog and zero visibility we both made it in one piece!

Squiggley - are you off to Hove? We used to go to the dogs there quite a bit, cos I lived in Hove, it's a great night out. Bets are really cheap as well, and it's a lot of fun watching the people as much as the dogs.

Charliesmum - Good luck, fingers crossed for sunshine, and I hope you all have a fantastic day xxxx

Wmf - hope the visit goes okay! Will think of you xx

Just been laughing my head off, friend just sent me a text, what he meant was that he will come and help chop down some stuff in the garden, what the text said was "I'll sort out your bush, I'm good with my hands" - well it's put a big smile on my face!

Have a good day one and all, and hugs to anyone in need xx

  • Good morning everyone,I've just pulled back the blind and although it's dry,it has been raining and it looks very gloomy. Not too warm either.
I'm going to clean my windows today and then I'm off shopping.
So good to hear the OHs are on the mend, hope the wedding goes well too.
I hope everyone enjoys their day,I'm going to try to enjoy mine if I can ever rouse myself.I do feel very sleepy and incredibly lazy today.I think hibernation mode's setting in.

FrugalSwan, how are the plans coming along.

They're coming along nicely now, thanks. :) The dress arrived a couple of weeks ago and is a near perfect fit :j (thank you eBay for my very money saving dress!) and in a couple of weeks' time we'll go and get everything confirmed with the Register Office to have our ceremony there. It'll work out a lot cheaper doing it this way, and we'll go to a nice restaurant nearby so people can have their choice - it'll be a Harvester or something, most likely. :)

I still need to get the flowers, the cake (I have a few recipes, but need to upscale them to fit a 12" cake tin), the invitations, the shoes and other bits and pieces, but the most important parts are starting to fall into place now. I say that and something will inevitably go wrong though! :p I bought stamps and ink pads to do the invites with and will use the same design for the top of the cake. Mind you, having seen the Hairy Bakers the other night, I'm quite tempted to get a little sugarpaste figure of the two of us on a sugarcrafted motorbike, getting a knee down on the outside edge of one of the tiers!

  • Morning all,

*hugs to all* Glad to hear he's coming home beth and hugs to Joannasmum!

It's actually showing a bit of sun here today, tis just me and my little brother today as both mum and step-dad are at work. He loves when it's just me and him, although he thinks I don't notice that the biscuit tin takes a sudden hit lol! He's busy building with lego in his room, so that gives me chance to catch up with secret diary of a call girl.

Depending on how my stomach is, I may attempt some baking with him, shall have to see how it goes.

Hope everyone has a lovely day, I shall check back later!

Squiggly - enjoy the dogs, I haven't been for years, I wonder if they still do 25p bets!!

I was very late up today (9.30 ).....my OH had a rough night so kept waking me up too and I don't do well without my sleep....finally he had to leave at 6.30 to go to work so I got some undisturbed sleep. I'm already starting to worry about tonight but for a different reason. OH is doing a night shift but his DDs are here, the same thing happened a couple of weeks ago, the youngest was fine about it but the oldest had period pains and was crying....she's very reserved so I didn't feel I could offer comfort with a hug so all I could do was give her paracetamol and sympathy and suggest they both slept together (DD2 has a double bed). No more disturbances through the night but I didn't sleep well as I was expecting more tears. So not sure what tonight will bring. Thing is it's an easy shift for OH to do - getting paid to sleep at someone's house and only has to get up once (unless there are problems of course), it's higher pay on a weekend and we're going to need easy money like that when he starts his course in a week as we'll be skint enough as it is.

Phew that was a lot of waffle!! It's sunny and mainly blue skies here :T so got a load of washing in, forecast showed no rain so I hope to get all the washing dried outside this weekend. Also need to do the weekly shop as I didn't go last night. Want to do some baking, definitely muffins (got a cookbook dedicated to muffins from the book people, couldn't resist!), also hope to do some twink's hobnobs as not made any for ages, and some bread. Also tea is hm pizza, so looks like the oven will be used today:eek: never mind. Haven't decided on lunch yet...will be either a salad or spicy tomato & lentil soup....bit of a difference between the two! So I'd better get going ;)

Have a lovely saturday everyone :D

    Gena xx

  • Charlie's Mum I hope the weather holds and it all goes well. I'm sure it will though. I hope you took your hanky. :cheesy:
Squiddly This is the pattern here. I forgot to buy contrasting material :rolleyes2 so had to use the same and made it a bit shorter to accommodate that little error.
Whatawit He was only suppose to be taking my top, and not me. Is that better.
mummysaver Sounds like you've got a bigger fan than me.

Thanks for the lovely comments about my top. Just relaxing with a wine. <hugs> to those not well. Off to have a bit of a look around. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

  • Morning everyone:) Lovely reading all your posts. Dismal and damp here today. Yesterday turned out warm and sunny for a few hours so got loads of washing dried outside, so won't need to put wm on today at all.One of our sons(25) went to Australia last month and it is lovely the way he is keeping in touch with us, online and Facebook, plus a phonecall. He is gone for one year with his good friend, and they are having a great time. We really miss him at home as he is a ray of sunshineThe home is much tidier and quieter:) and we really miss him a lot. We have just the one son at home now(24)
Just a tidy up in house today and mop the kitchen foor. Will do some baking and ironing later today. Dh will be home from work later and has plans to relax and watch the football. He works very hard and is up so early in the mornings(4.00) so it is nice to see him relax. He always cooks the Sunday dinner and washes up afterwards too, and I really appreciate his help. I am planning to sit down and knit later on as well, so hopefully a nice relaxing weekend all round. Of course that wee saying comes to mind...... The best laid plans of mice and men...................:)
Do a little kindness every day.;)
