OS Daily Thread - Saturday 13th September

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Saturday 13th September. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Hi all!
Another early morning for me.
Am eating the remainders of our first BM loaf, toasted with jam right now and it tastes gorgeous! My OH has decided to take control of it as his first attempt was so good so he has set it again so that when he gets up he will have hot baked bread waiting for him.
Have been reading the instructions for my energy monitor but have had to give up as I am a tad confused. I think I have the gist, I just need to re-read it to finally work out how it works. Might do that in a minute while the house is quiet.
No moths in the house today so at least I won't have to watch Treacle eat another one!
Beth - hope your OH is doing Ok.. keep us posted.
*Hugs* to anyone who needs one and congratulations to anyone who is celebrating today.

To be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough.
If you can't handle me at my worst then you don't deserve me at my best...
Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I will try again tomorrow.

Morning MONEYSAVINGDIVA and all who follow
Pleased to say hangover is all gone but felt terrible all day. My own fault though. Won't say never again as that won't happen
.
Supposed to be nice here today. Will hang washing out in a mo. Am a bit concerned about DS at the mo, he bit a friend of his yesterday, which at 7 he shouldn't do. Also am having real problems getting him to go to sleep before 10pm at night. Hopefully it's all related to starting junior school and he'll calm down soon.
BETH big hugs to you and yours.
Big hugs to anyone one else who needs one, haven't caught the thread up.
Happy Birthday MRS MIX for yesterday and anyone else celebrating  .
Must go and get organised. Have a good day all.

Good morning Moneysavingdiva and all who follow.
DH and I babysat last night for DGS and DGD and had great fun playing cards and board games; they're both really good children and a pleasure to be with.
Beth - I do hope DH is receiving the right treatment now and on the road to recovery. (((Hugs))) to you and your family.
(((Hugs))) to Smoky, PenPin, Jayward, Essex-girl's Dad, Candygirl's Dad and everyone else who is in need today.
Churchmouse - :hello: :hello: :hello:
The sky is a mixture of light and dark clouds so I can't tell what the weather will do today, but I'm so grateful not to be living anywhere that gets severe weather conditions - to be living under the threat of hurricane season must be dreadful so I'm determined not to grumble about the rain.
I felt very sorry for all those poor holidaymakers after the collapse of XL yesterday - most of them have worked hard and saved hard for their holiday only to have it snatched from them without notice. For the life of me, I can't see why there isn't a contingency plan in place when things like that happen so at least those stranded abroad can still get back home and get on with their lives. It just goes to show how the recession is really biting.
I need to do some baking today because we've run out of cakes and biscuits. Dinner tonight is leftover stew so that will be easy.
Well, I'm off for a mooch around here then I'll have a shower.
Have a great day, everyone.

Good Morning All
Looks like could be a nice day today (fingers crossed) have loads of washing so if it stays dry that will be a big bonus. I know what you mean Mioliere I moan about the weather but not only are we lucky not having hurricanes but we live somewhere where do have rain. I was watching a programme about a town in Australia that had been in drought for 7 years.
Anyway normal stuff for me today, ironing & washing mainly. DS has footie practice then later on he and OH will go down the pub to watch Chelsea - I may join them or stay at home and enjoy the peace and quiet. Need to drop DD & her friend at a local cinema later they are off to see Wild Child.
Need to go and check see if I need to make bread this morning then to have a route around in the freezer and see what meat I can roast tomorrow.
Have a lovely Saturday.

Morning.
Looks dry out there and cloudy.
Had a great days fishing yesterday off Meva in Cornwall. The weather was good and sea's fair. Managed to catch several fish so that was good. Got some for the freezer too.
Managed to reverse into a tie up thingy at the harbour and dented an alloy on the car. So bit unhappy about my lack of judgement there.
Wedding today at 12.00. I am a bit niggled as I have to sort out transportation of a rather large chocolate cake. My brother made it to order and it is rather exquisite with 20lbs of chocolate in it and truffles etc.....
I hope it gets there without me dropping it.
The once that is over I have few organising worries left.
Missus needs an MOT on the car, so I suppose I had better get that sorted. this week.
Well time to walk to the paper shop, and get the chickens out.

Morning all,
I've had a lazy day today.
Just did the basics and enjoyed my *Home Alone* feeling. Went for a drive after lunch to the dump
Such excitement. I'm going downstairs shortly to give the chooks a bit of a run. We were told we had to keep them in their chook run for the first week, that way they stick close by when they get let out. We shall see.
I got DH to take 2 pics of my top. Here is one & here the other. I told him just to take the top but he got my head as well. I'm just wearing one of DD's old cast off skirts but I will team it up with a pair of 3/4 black pants I have. OS is looking after DGS. He makes me so mad. He's got movies out to watch which is way too old for him. He also lets him watch those awful fighting games on the Wii when he's playing it. But what can you do, it's his son. Rant over.
Moiliere I feel so sorry for those holiday makers too. It would be a big blow.
Beth I hope all is well.
Well I better get going as I'm off to Mass tonight and will need to get ready soon. Hope you all have as much as a relaxed day that I have had.
Byeeeeeeeeeee Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.

Morning all
So much for some 'us' time for me & hubby now BIL has gone, we have visitors arriving later today, still I don't really mind & they will only be here from 4ish til tomorrow lunch time, it's my own fault for saying 'pop in next time you are over this way' lol.
Lots of housework lined up for me today, I need to clean BIL's room out & put clean bedding on for today's guests, loads of washing to do too, I wonder if it will dry outside & I'll probably make some more crumbles too.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning peeps
hope that everyone is well and that everyone with poorly OH`s have good news winging your way. ((((HUGS)))) to all.
I didn`t get on to catch up properly yesterday until quite late so i`m determined to try and keep up today.
Last night i made a huge dish of mixed salad, lovely white cabbage with red, green and yellow peppers, carrots and onions. It was lovely and we had cottage cheese and potato salad too for tea, i made the potato salad quite late and it was still just warm and gorgeous with lots of black pepper
I also made an enormous pan of lentil and bacon soup and a batch of hm rolls, i have some here with me for lunch at w*rk, i`m starting to feel hungry after typing about all the food.
This morning i was up bright and early (around 4am) and i put the dw on and also the wm, i also put yesterdays washing in the dryer as it just will not dry at all with the nasty damp weather and i refuse to put the heating on just to dry the washing, at least it was economy 7 time so shouldn`t have cost much.
I washed all the pots that wouldn`t fit in the dw and sorted the animals food out too. When DH gets up he won`t have anything to do except walk the houndies and get his breakfast.
I found a half shoulder of lamb in the fridge that i bought at the local market and had forgotten about so i shall cook this later and then we can have lamb kebabs with salad for dinner tonight.:D I may even run to a few potato wedges to go with it.
I`m off to search for some recipes whilst it`s nice and quiet, i`m sure that i saw someone post an apple and ginger marmalade recipe on the boards not too long ago but i can`t seem to find it anywhere so i shall have to keep on looking.
Have a lovely day everyone.

Hello peeps
Been awake since 6am and got up at 6.30. I know that is late for some people but it's early for me. Lovely and quiet and a cool morning, just as lovely autumn should be. No rain!!!
Today heralds the arrival of the in laws but just for afternoon and then tea/ supper/ dinner and then getting a taxi back to their campervan. Actually they are coming for lunch as well DH said he'd collect them at 11am. They haven't made up their minds what they are doing tomorrow so I'm going to get a couple of the butcher's nice steak pies and just have an easy Sun lunch.
I'm feeling miffed at my otherwsie wonderful DH as I cooked tea (ok, heated up pizzas) last night for us (me, DH, DSS and his girlfriend - oh and she didn't like pizzas so DH had gone to shop with her and she'd chosen some chicken grill thing in batter that needed a much higher oven temp and longer cooking -gggrrrr, the pizzas were just about ready when they came in.), then I cooked the |Gordon Ramsay shepherd's pie for tonight's tea while they all sat about. I asked DSS and GF to go and make up her bed, having left the sheets etc on top of it, so they did that but then no-one did anything else. I didn't ask for 'help' with dishes because DH said he'd do them. I went off to bed at about 10pm and came down this morning to find......all the dishes. I feel such a mug and totally taken for granted. This last week has been so busy as it was induction week for students and we are organising timetables. Teaching starts for me 9am Mon and my last class this week finishes at 4 on Friday so I know it's going to be tiring. Anyway, I have my lovely escape route of my hairdresser's appointment this afternoon, even though that leaves MinL in the house -I don't care.
ooooh listen to me feeling sorry for myself. DH is going to get an ear bashing when he gets up.
I'm off to hoover and make a big noise.
have a lovely weekend - I'll be popping in when I can and hope to be able to say that the weekend is going well.
Take care all - ((((hugs)))) to those having a hard time

Morning everyone
Well it's a dry day today - so far....
Todays plans involve cleaning, washing, drying and ironing (what fun!) and hopefully a bit more knitting :.)
DH needs to pop to the sorting office to pick up a parcel (it's a new game for the PS3 so I know what he'll be doing today lol!!)
Have ordered my books for college £64!! and that's not all of them - I don't think they'll be here in time for Monday - but they only gave us a week to get them - do you think I'll be the only one without books on Monday?
Dinner tonight will be thai red curry for DH and I and probably a jacket tatty for DD. Also need to make some goodies for packed lunches next week.
Oh - DD was supposed to be going on a school trip in October - £232!! Have finally paid it all and it's now been cancelled due to building works! They've re-arranged a new trip for November and it's £65 cheaper - so I'll be getting a refund - guess it pays for my books lol!!
Anyway I've rambled enough - have a great day everyone (((((hugs)))))Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)0
