I thought nobody had replied to my email either. For some reason the emails from Asda don't seem to be getting to my inbox but they always seem to be there when I check my account. Just found this reply to my email.

Thank you for your email. We apologise for any inconvenience that may have been caused by the cancellation of your order. The item you ordered was incorrectly priced and in accordance with our terms and conditions was subsequently cancelled.

We are aware a small number of customers orders were fulfilled, due to how goods are picked and shipped from our warehouse. i.e. picked in batches relating to postcode area and surname. We were unable to stop deliveries for items which had already been dispatched to our courier, therefore any orders not shipped to our courier were cancelled.

Whilst we appreciate this may be a cause of frustration for you we hope you can understand that when the error was identified we acted as quickly as possible to inform customers.

    Kind regards
    Asda.com customer services team

  • I think the second paragraph of your email stating 'picked in batches relating to postcode area and surname' is untrue. Like I said I had one delivered (the one ordered on Sunday) and one cancelled (the one ordered on the Saturday). I had the same postcode and surname on both orders. I think they started on the Fridays' ordered and cancelled as many as possible before the end of play on Monday. Therefore leaving Sunday's and Monday's orders uncancelled so they were picked and dispatched before they had time to cancel them.

Just my opinion though - I don't know that for a fact!!!
  • I think that it's the inconsistency of their response that's annoyed me the most, but it may be the very thing that weakens their defence with trading standards! It can't be right that they cancel existing orders while still accepting new orders which are subsequently fulfilled. They can't stonewall some customers while reinstating others' orders and offering vouchers to others still!
This site is all about consumer revenge, and I too would like to see Martin getting involved in this one - but I'm still optimistic about trading standards.

I have just got home and there was a message on my answerphone stating:-

The best they can do is I re-purchase the tv (which is now £69.99) plus the delivery charge they will then arrange for me to be sent £30.00 in vouchers.

This way I am £10.00 out of pocket, pay full price for the tv, then go to asda's to spend another £30.00.

How is everyone else doing? I also emailed TS - not obviously no response yet due to the weekend.

well done for getting offered that.
what i dont understand is why
how come we havnt all been offered that
what did you say in your phone call/email that we didnt? lol

I rang customer services (the number was on the cancellation email) and the guy who answered didn't know a thing so would get someone to call me the next day. Quite impressed that the call came. It was the Customer Services Manager - Tracey Mann. After I had explained all the points which had been posted on this thread, the fact that it wasn't my fault they ran 2 offers on the same item, they had taken my money then cancel when I due the delivery with less than 12 hours to go, the Clause 8 and Clause 9 and that it wasn't a 'mis-priced item', the reason I bought 1 then another, the fact that I was getting one and not the other.

She responded in the fact she understood everything that I was saying but the legal dept had said it was a mis-price therefore cancelled. I asked to speak to someone else as I was still not satisfied to which she said she would try and sort something out and get back to me. She did ring me the next day and left a message saying she wouldn't be able to get a response until Friday.

As no call came before 5pm on Friday I rang the CS number again and explained that I was not happy at all that I had been kept in the dark all week and she didn't have the curtesy to call back when promised. I ended up saying she could ring on Tueday (I'm at work all day Monday) and find out what TS were going to say/do as I would be informing them of the situation.

The message was left on the answer phone (again) on Saturday morning saying about the vouchers. Needless to say I have kept both messages just in case.

I hope everyone gets some sort of outcome.

It doesn't matter how much the TV was when the code was used, the asda checkout accepted it

Just wondered how people are getting on with this, and how many are still persuing it.

I've had dialogue with ASDA via their email system, sent a special delivery letter and now have the contact name of the person who my case has been escalated to, who I will be ringing a bit later this afternoon. Hopefully speaking to him should give me a better idea of where I am with this. I will update if I get a breakthrough, but am generally just expecting the stock response at this stage.

I'm not generally one to get too bothered if we miss out on deals, especially when they're genuine misprices, but on this occasion I think ASDA are on really shaky ground, and basically trying to pull a fast one. If they had followed their own T&C and contacted us with details of the misprice, it would actually have just been £10 more, which I may well have gone with. Instead though, my gut instinct is that the "misprice" and putting the price up by £10 was basically manufactured by them as an excuse to cancel orders, and buy themselves time to expire the voucher, and that's why they didn't follow their own t&C.
  • Just to let you know I have not had another response from ASDA after my sarcastic email was sent, though I'm not suprised.

I am still awaiting a response from Trading Standards Doncaster, thgouh I suppose they have a few complaints to go through so I'll give them until tomorrow before I start chasing!!
