  • I tried to reorder on the Tuesday as I was willing to pay the extra £10 but the code wouldn't work for me said it was invalid for the purchase

That's the bit that's really irking me. If it was a misprice, I would have been prepared to pay the extra £10 - it would still have been a great deal, especially as we actually need a new tv, and I'm stuggling to find any CRT Tvs that will fit in our cabinet. But rather than putting the price up by £10 (their supposed misprice amount) they have actually put it up by £40, by also cancelling off the voucher.

Just wondered how people are getting on with this, and how many are still persuing it.

I've had dialogue with ASDA via their email system, sent a special delivery letter and now have the contact name of the person who my case has been escalated to, who I will be ringing a bit later this afternoon. Hopefully speaking to him should give me a better idea of where I am with this. I will update if I get a breakthrough, but am generally just expecting the stock response at this stage.

I'm not generally one to get too bothered if we miss out on deals, especially when they're genuine misprices, but on this occasion I think ASDA are on really shaky ground, and basically trying to pull a fast one. If they had followed their own T&C and contacted us with details of the misprice, it would actually have just been £10 more, which I may well have gone with. Instead though, my gut instinct is that the "misprice" and putting the price up by £10 was basically manufactured by them as an excuse to cancel orders, and buy themselves time to expire the voucher, and that's why they didn't follow their own t&C.[/quote]

i know they are selling the tv for this amount now but the offer was as one of their 24hours deals and now the deal is over it has gone up £10. therefore again it is not a misprice

    Well done you.
Did you use the £30.00 voucher and pay just under £40.00 for the tv delivered?

I did use voucher originally but that one was the one that got cancelled but they did honour that price it came to £39 inc delivery.

I have just had the following reply from Trading Standards, who I forwarded a copy of my complaint letter to. I haven't really involved them directly, just sent them a copy to add to their records as I know they are looking into it for other people.

Thank-you for your recent Email to this service.
I understand that you will shortly receive a reply to your letter from Asda Electricals.
For your information, should you need assistance from Trading Standards in the future you should contact your local Trading Standards Department via Consumer Direct on 08454 04 05 06, they will provide first line advice and then pass the complaint over for further investigation if necessary.
It is not necessary to contact the authority where the trader is based.
I hope your complaint is resolved shortly.
    Regards,

I've yet to really hear anything from ASDA, but this response from Trading standards does suggest that they have spoken to ASDA, who are working on a response I guess.

Anyone else getting any further with this?
  • Asda have repied that any complaints needs to be made in writing to them .

I've just spoken to Asda electricals and apparently a letter was sent out to me yesterday. It didn't arrive today in the post, so I guess it will probably be here tomorrow. Has anyone else had their letter yet? I'm guessing that they've sent out the same letter to all of us who have complained, given that they seem to have done that with emails. Also, has anyone actually had a response from trading standards that actually tells us anything?

I've just rec'd my letter, which says if I repurchase the tv at 69.99, they will recredit my card with 35.00. I'm quite happy with that as it only works out at 5.00 more, and I actually need the tv, and its the cheapest I've found by far. Hope everyone else gets a good result.

I rec'd a letter today saying if I purchased the tv for £69.99, I could have a refund of £30.
