Nobody has come forward to say that they have actually received one of these yet. Mine has been cancelled too. I do remember re: the voucher code that it was for one day only and that day had passed when I placed my order, but I guess I thought, oh well, it worked so great. I am still of much the same mind now, oh well they have cottoned on, never mind. That said, the wording of their email is a bit cheeky "thank you for your attempted order". I don't call something that has been ordered by me, accepted by them, money taken, and the goods on the van an "attempted" order - this is both incorrect and insulting to the customer. I would much rather they came clean and told us the truth which is they let a code that had expired be used on their system because they were too slow and sloppy to update their website, and allthough they are sorry and all of that, they are not going to honour it - nothing to do with me attempting (which infers failing) to create an order.

Reminds me a bit of the B & Q outdoor play furniture debacle, (same sort of scenario) where eventually they had to give us £10 each as a peace offering. Similarly hoover !!!

I am not overly hot under the collar about the offer not being honoured ( I had not told anybody about it, so no-one to disappoint), although happy to email them to add my support, and I will be a bit cross if they keep my money for 5 days, they were quick enough to take it.

  • My order is tracking with citilink and is out for delivery so should be here soon. I ordered the TV on Sunday and so I would have thought they would have realised about the code and cancelled it but obviously they haven't..

Fingers crossed for everyone else. I'll let you know if it arrives.
  • I have just received a PM from someone asking me for a copy of my complaint to ASDA.

I think if we start posting a copy then reciprocating the complaint, I dont think it would do any favours. I think it would be better with 60 odd, individual complaints rather than 60 exactly the same.

However, I will post up my arguing points, there are only two, one of them courtesy from another on this thread.

    1) I basically pointed out that there was no expiry date on the code and the code was valid on their website. I stated that they have made a mistake and realised that they had left the code running whilst having another offer on the tv. Then they have tried to cover it up by saying it was out of date. However, all codes are surely programmed with an expiry date, and once it reaches that date it would be automatically be taken off the database, they can't convince me it is some admins job to manually take them all off!! Even if it was, tough luck, they have made the mistake and there is nothing in their t&c's that cover out of date codes. The product was not mispriced!!

    2) I pointed out that Section 9 of Acceptance of Order states that when an email is received by the buyer explicitly stating the order has been accepted then it is binding. I received one assuring me my order will be delivered on the said date. In my view this is acceptance.

    I am awaiting their reply.

    Hope this helps

  • Well, I'm still holding out some hope- ordered one using the code yesterday morning , got my confirmation email at 9.08 am and haven't received anything since...........

When I log in to the Asda website, I can see my order and it says:

    'Dual LE21DTVDVD0701 21" DVD
£59.991 £59.99Delivery date: Tuesday, 16 September 2008. Dispatch date: Monday, 15 September 2008. Courier: City Link. Picked from warehouse stock on Monday, 15 September 2008 at 12:45:00. Loaded onto carrier's vehicle on Monday, 15 September 2008 at 14:27:48. Released to carrier on Monday, 15 September 2008 at 01:00:00. Tracking url.30 Pounds off Dual LE21DTVDVD0701
    £-30.001 £-30.00'

Then, when I go into the tracking link provided it says that goods have been loaded onto a van, so I'm still hoping that it will arrive today and I will get my bargain! Really hope so, this will such a luxury for the kids in their bedroom!

Will report back if and when it arrives...........

No They can't take it back after it has been delivered.

Can you confirm you paid the £59.99, and got the £30 off, or even copy and paste the acknowledgement if it is the case, then everyone who has had there order cancelled will have a better stand when making a complaint

    Thanks

I would be inclined to double check your credit card account to make sure you have only paid £39.xx for your TV.

Also check your remittance/advice note/invoice that has come with the TV to make sure that shows £39.xx too.

If so open the box and enjoy watching your new TV.
  • Yes - paid £59.99, used the £30 money off voucher code (which was accepted, no probs) total so far - £29.99, plus delivery of £9.69, grand total of £39.68

I agree with wissychraddle. Funnily enough my complaint is on a slightly different tenet. I have taken a day off work to have it delivered (today). Although disappointing, it is not the cancelling that has got my goat, it is the fact that they have had since Saturday at 6.35 am (when I placed the order) to cancel, and they do it after I have taken the time off). They sent the email late last night, and the order was due for 0700 this morning (onwards) Great news for repton, and it does prove that they are honouring some of the "misprices" - out of interest, were you one of the early orderers repton ?
    thanks
