    Hi
I am getting back the full amount apparently :T . I will post again when I actually receive the money and let you know.

Fantastic news. Let's hope you get it asap and we all start receiving our refunds too.

If anyone has a problem contacting ATOL, I have a few numbers which I got through on that I can give you. Please pm as I don't want to put them on the site for obvious reasons.
  • I spoke to someone at CEGA again today and asked them if i'm going to have a problem due to my travel agent (On the Beach) being one of the agents without an ATOL. He said the claim will be honoured and within the next week we will recieve a letter asking us to assign the claim to them, so they can pay us and they will then in turn claim the money back off On the beach. This also applies to Travel Republic claims. So it does look like there is light at the end of the tunnel!!!!

That's good news. Let's hope they are quicker than ATOL.

I've just had a phone call from ATOL to say they have received my credit card statements and completed section 8 (which they said they needed before I would get a refund although previously said was not necessary) which they have passed to the relevent manager.

It will now take another 3 to 4 weeks  as its done numercially and I have a high number. They will send me a letter saying notice of approval before refunding me.

Well, at least they have got all the information they require (I hope!).

Just read this on another site,I am fuming

Following Matts earlier post I also contacted the Caa ATOL. Gave the guy my claim number on TCD issued by them in october. He said that just today they had it confirmed if any part of the claim was made by credit card they they will be refuting the whole claim. He said they are just waiting for legal wording for the letters. He was very well informed and very apologetic. This supports Matt's comments. I also spoke to two others today on the general enquiry number and was told all is in hand. I have to believe the first guy as the others were very sketchy.

To this end I have drafted another claim on Barclaycard for the balance I paid by debit card and checked the legal rights re: sec 75 cca 1974, apparently even if paying deposit the cc firm is legally bound to honour the total value of the goods as long as your purchase is with the trader directly. The guy at ATOL said just that, our claim is with TCD directly.
It would be nice to get my refund from ATOL but I believe were not going to. Good Luck.

Just Spoken to Egg who basically say that I am talking rubbish and they are not liable, awaiting my letter from Atol,I am appalled. How can they do this!!

We put our claim in the day after XL went bust, we found out about 6 weeks later that the claim hadn't even been submitted because they missed a signature off and since then we've heard nothing. We booked through Thomsons. They are so unhelpful, the shop just tell us they don't know whats going on :(

Should we have had a claim number by now? If anybody can help i'd be really grateful. Thanks :)
 Think happy & you'll be happy

You should have received an acknowledgement from ATOL by now, that is, of course, if your claim has been submitted by travel agent. Try ringing their head office and ask to speak to a manager/supervisor.

I have a few numbers for ATOL which I will pm you. They may be able to help you without a claim number if you explain what's happened.
