I have just spoken to ATOL again to confirm receipt of their letter and form.

They have said that if you booked by credit card with Travel City Direct you have to claim on your credit card under Section 75 and they are sending out letters to this effect. I asked if this would affect my claim but it doesn't as I booked with and paid a travel agent who has not gone out of business (yet!).

I feel sorry for all the claimants who have been waiting patiently for their refunds and now have to go back to the credit card companies. But hopefully, they may get their refund quicker than me now.

…and if you paid by debit card? As well as providing the original invoice AND provided original bank statements with the claim form but have STILL not received payment??

I was expecting it to take time but this is ridiculous - you provide everything they need and they still havent sorted it!

Thats the same as me, i provided everything asked for, bank statements, invoices, even the airline tickets!!! What more to they want!! It is actually starting to get me quite depressed. Doesnt help i've just been made redundant either, so need that money more than ever now.

What was the last correspondence you received from them? Have you had your claim number yet?

We all sound like we are stuck in the same situation, I paid on debit card & they have had all my original bank statements, flight tickets, hotel vouchers, disney vouchers etc for 4 months now & still no payment, i keep checking my bank most days in the hope something arrives soon!

Does anybody know if On the Beach Travel are one of those agents who are being taken to court if feb. I know Travel Rupblic are.

I don't think that On the Beach have been charged with anything as yet, they have been mentioned in the Travel Trade press as being one that may be taken to court by the CAA. As far as I am aware they only company definitely going to court is Travel Republic, the first hearing is on 11 February.

I have my claim number, it received it on the 31st October. So tomorrow is my 11th week of waiting!!

I heard that also that it was just Travel Republic at the moment. My only hope at the moment is we all get our money THIS year and not next!!

    lol
  • Hi
I have just got off the phone to the CAA (thanks to Flyaway for the telephone numbers) and apparently my claim was approved on monday 12th Jan but it will take up to 14 days to reach my bank account as they only do a "bank run" once a week ??
For anyone interested, I submitted my claim by special delivery on Sept 12th, and I received my claim letter on Oct 14th. My claim was approved on Jan 12th and I should receive my money by the end of January.
I had booked a package holiday direct with XL, (Really Great Holday Company) and paid by debit card. Hope this info helps some-one or if anyone wants the telephone numbers please PM me.

Thats good news, i'm really hoping i'm soon! My claim letter was the 31st Oct so maybe another couple weeks and I should get it back. Are you getting the full amount as I have read stories that people are only getting a fraction of what their original claim was for?

Do the stories say why people are only getting a fraction of their original claim?
