Thanks flyaway, much appreciated, i'll ring them tomorrow
I rang Thomsons after I'd posted this and I was very firm but politeand she rang me back with a claim number and said it "might" be 4 - 6 weeks but she'll ring me in 5 weeks to let me know. Finally finally they helped a bit!!
But I will definitely ring ATOL tomorrow and see if they can give me anything a bit more definite. I kind of feel bad for complaining, I know a lot of people are probably waiting for more money than we are but it's a lot to us and we really need it. Think happy & you'll be happy

I've not heard anything from Atol since I put my claim in months ago, apart from receiving a claims number. I get no reply to my e mails, so I decided to go through the credit card company who originally told me I had to go through atol. I rang up and demanded a claims from, they were a bit reluctant but said they would fill in a claims form and send it to their disputes department. Is this the right thing to do or are they fobbing me off?0

hi guys,
can anyone give me some advice?
put my claim in the day after xl went under, received a phone call just before xmas saying I had missed a page of info which I immediately sent in an email and have also received a claim number now, but have not heard anything since about getting money back?
I know I am getting impatient but I am starting to worry whether I will get anything back - I booked through on the beach with a debit card, and have heard some worrying things about the company?
is anyone else in the same position?

Just to let you all know I received my letter from ATOL/CAA this morning which confirms that my claim was authorised on 12th January and that I should receive my money within 5 working days :j
I am getting back the full amount which is great and a huge relief too. I hope everyone else here gets some goods news soon.

Just noticed that people are saying they are getting back the full amount, why wouldn't you get back the full amount? It hasn't even occured to us that we might not get it all back. On what grounds could they only give some back? Think happy & you'll be happy

I received my letter with my claim number on October 14th.

I received my claim number around the same time but have heard nothing as yet promissing any refund. This news has rekindled a bit of hope as I was beginning to despair of any refund. In October they suggested a refund within twelve weeks. Ah well we live in hope.0

ATOL/CAA are now advising that all claims which had been paid or part paid by credit card should be claimed under section 75!!!
And I never even got a reference for my claim - I could have done this months ago! :mad:0
