Spoke to some at CEGA this morning who has advised me that my claim is in payment queue but as there are so many in the queue it could take a while! ARGHH!!!0

I have just 'googled' caa on the beach claims and a thread off another site popped up saying claims maybe rejected if you booked through on the beach or travel republic. I will NOT be impressed if this is the case!! Why should it not be paid...........my flights were through Freedom Flights who were ATOL protected!
This saga is never going to end is it?0 -
Slowly but surely, all the claims that are valid will be paid ot by CAA/ATOl via CEGA the claims handlers.
Theres been dispute over who's claims are legal and whose are not and some of the agents that have been used are in query with legal action being taken against them by CAA due to the way they sold the holidays and flights.
Needless to say though, there are so many its taking a lot of time. Any claims without the required documentation, proof of payment, affadavits that were required will slowly be returned and need to be re-sumitted again.0 -
CEGA have told me i'm in the queue for payment, so does that mean my claim is valid and will be paid or is it just in another dept with the chance of being rejected???0

It appears ATOL are doing everything they can think of in order to delay paying out. I spoke to them last week and they said a letter had been out on 13th December asking me for credit card statements that show transactions of payment to travel agent and bank details for the refund. They told me originally that this was not necessary when I queried it and they would refund me by cheque. I have not received any letters from them even the acknowledgement was sent by mistake to the travel agent.
I contacted Financial Ombudsman who said to fill out their form and send it with credit card letter stating to get refund from ATOL to them and they would try and get credit card to refund as ATOL taking so long and that credit card could claim it back from ATOL.
Don't know if that will work but it's worth a try while we're waiting.0 -
I have just spoken to ATOL again to confirm receipt of their letter and form.
They have said that if you booked by credit card with Travel City Direct you have to claim on your credit card under Section 75 and they are sending out letters to this effect. I asked if this would affect my claim but it doesn't as I booked with and paid a travel agent who has not gone out of business (yet!).
I feel sorry for all the claimants who have been waiting patiently for their refunds and now have to go back to the credit card companies. But hopefully, they may get their refund quicker than me now.0 -
has anyone had to claim via A1 travel?? i spoke to them several times but the last one just before xmas and they still have not submitted my claim form to atol.... is it just mine????0
-
If an agent has not submitted your claim after three months, it is time to contact the CAA and say you want to make the claim directly. I assume you did not assign the claim to A1 as presumably they would have been quicker if they were getting the money. If A1 are members of ABTA I would make a formal complaint against them 0207 637 2444 because there is no excuse for the delay unless they are hiding something, did you actually ever get a confirmation invoice from Freedom Flights for example? If you didn't then you may have no valid claim at all. Don't wait any longer, the CAA cannot pay claims they don't know about!0

My story is the same, exactly (same T/A, same status). Called them two weeks ago, they said they would send off my name to CAA in 4 (!) weeks, and the CAA processing time is 8 weeks from then, so I should expect payment in about 12 weeks! :mad:0 -
