Hi just a quick note for those who are claiming back their money through visa debit .
I submitted my claim on the morning of the announcement 12/9/08 through Nationwide bank.
I received my money back on 9th October .
Apparently the process is taking longer than usual due to the high volume of claims but the good news is you will get your money back eventually.0 -

Was this a claim for flights only (ie., XL.com) or for an ATOL protected purchase like Travel City Direct?
Nationwide have told me that they will only refund if I get no joy with ATOL so I'm assuming your purchase was for an non-protected ATOL XL purchase?
To altheman2004. To claim a Visa Debit chargeback, you need to get a Visa Dispute form from a Nationwide branch.0 -

The Claim was for XL.com flights only that were not ATOL protected .
Altheman
As stated you need a visa dispute form from a Nationwide branch.
I have also received a letter today saying that the merchants bank have 45 days to contest the matter ,but if I hear nothing more the matter is settled .0 -
Flyaway - I think the thing that helped me was that Kosmar were part of the XL group and had, themselves, gone down. From their website I had printed off a letter from ATOL specifically stating that they would not refund any money paid on a credit card, and that I should claim it back from the card company itself. I sent off this letter to Barclaycard along with copies of invoice, flight tickets, etc., and wrote on the forms that I was claiming under section 75.
Hope you get sorted soon!
By the way, XL went under on the morning we were due to fly (September 12th) so our holiday disappeared with them. But thanks for wishing us a great one, anyway0 -
Just a quick note, i got a letter from ATOL this morning with a claim number.
anyone else got theres?0 -
Just to update. My credit card company told me yesterday that I have to claim from ATOL. As the travel agent was a third party and Section 75 does not cover.
My friend who paid half of the holiday on his credit card (different card company) asked for a refund from cc company and they said they would but it would take a few weeks as they're inundated with claims.
It appears that different companies have different policies on refunds or perhaps they're going to come back later and say he has to claim from ATOL.0 -
Just had a letter from my Visa co saying that I have to get a letter from the liquidators advising me to claim from my CC co...I will be responding appropriately....0

That's something. Did they say how long the claim would take?
The Letter
