What a great surprise for you. Did you ask them to credit your account?
I don't remember the form asking for bank details. As I paid by two different credit cards, I'm hoping they will send a cheque.

    Good Morning all,

I had a letter with my claim ref number on, sinice the i havnt herd anything, But this morning on my way to work, i took some cash out and to my surprise ive had the total cost of my trip to flordia credited to my account.

    Nick,

When did you received your letter with your claim number on and did you recieve a letter advising you it will be paid within 5 days(quote from a previous post from someone)

I hope I get it before xmas, that would be soooooo sweet!!!!!:rotfl: :rotfl:
  • Hello,

    Vicarondo

The letter with the claim ref was dated the 9th oct.

The postman posted the letter from ATOL this afternoon saying they will refund in 5 working days, it was dated the 28th nov. got the refund before the letter LOL.

    Flyaway.

I think on the claim form it asked for bank details but i did pay by debit card and i had to put all the card details on the form so they may have done it by that.

    Hope this helps

    Nick

Hello All. I booked my Florida package hols via A1 Travel. Pretty much after XL failing I got a check from A1 for the hotel fee and a form to fill out for claiming back the flight cost from the CAA, which I filled and returned promptly. I was told it would take approx 6 weeks to receive the money, but so far nothing happened, not even an acknowledgment. Tried to call and email A1 several times, finally this Friday I got through and was told that the claim is out of their hands, and is being handled by CAA, and it may take up to 6 months to get the money back. Has anyone had similar experiences or suggestions for a way forward? Many thanks!

Just a "status report". As I still haven't heard from the travel agent or the CAA, I called the travel agent today and was told that they are still finishing off collecting the claims from 2008, before sending them off to the CAA. I was told that they estimate another 12 weeks (4 weeks with the T/A and 8 weeks with the CAA) before the payment is done. That is March 2009, while my original booking was in September 2008, and XL going bust in October (I think). That's 5-6 months. Is this reasonable, as it should be quite straight forward decision/process, for most of us?!
  • I have just had a letter from CAA. They are asking me for the original ATOL confirmatation invoice. I booked direct with Travelcity via the internet. I have only E Mails to prove I was booked. I have sent a copy of the E Mails and a copy of my bank statement showing the money going out. Has anyone else who booked via the web site had the same problem.

I had similar thing couple weeks ago. They phoned me and asked for the original confirmation notice. (which was in the form of an email) They said that was fine and for me to send it to them. So i got his email address and just forwarded the original email from holiday company. Havent heard anything since. Should hopefully get refund shortly, its been 9 weeks now since I received my claim number & they said between 8 & 12 weeks after receipt of claim number.

I think it's time we all got on to the CAA about our refunds. They are busily taking various travel agents to court who were not ATOL registered. They don't seem too bothered about us genuine claimants and want us to wait. Well, I for one don't think it's right that we should and it's time now to start asking for them for our refunds. I have several phone numbers that work. So if anybody wants them please private message me.
  • Morning all!!

I am going to wait till Friday then get onto them. I know the CAA have been on xmas break and only returned back on Friday. On Friday it would have been 10 weeks since I received my acknowledgement letter. I am really hoping it gets paid this week as I want to book this years holiday ASAP. If I dont hear by Friday, I'll PM you for those numbers.

    Hello

Can I just add that travel agents dont have to have a ATOL license, as a travel agent my company doesnt have an actual license. However we only book through operators who do have ATOL. For instance we were affected by the Excel collapse, we only booked the excel flight through freedom flights who were atol bonded

therefore all our customers received refunds. You have to be carefull these days with all these small online companys
    I am a Travel Agent

My company’s ABTA numbers are P6046. MSE doesn't check my status as a Travel Agent, so you need to take my word for it. This signature is here as I follow MSE's Travel Agent Code of Conduct.
