No, you can't call someone a BTL investor! That would be too rude!

The problem is that all they want to hear about is crashing prices, which as we all know in the real world aint gonna happen except in a few cases where people are desperate to sell.
They say banks wont lend at stupid multipliers again but as we all know banks are there to make money and one way or another they will let the borrower's get n too deep again.

Pickles old chap. I would refer you to the post I made earlier today. The house and flat in question is not in some nasty area but actually situated in a coastal city that recently was voted one of the nicest places to live in the U.K. In the case of the house that was mortgage free and my friend was not desperate to sell. I would also point out to you that in the case of the house and also the flat we are looking at around a 30% reduction. Last year the asking price of my friends place was about right to achieve a sale. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1151219

  • Sorry to hear that CM. I can't tell you what words have been thrown my way for fear of starting another battle, but if you'd care to look at the 'Ignore' thread you'll see what I mean.

There's simply no excuse for name calling, especially the name your wife was called. Disgusting.

Oh I don't care, I live in Bali and regularly work in Thailand, if the dried up old witch and the halfwit with the tweed jacket and 100K flat think that them calling my wife and I silly names actually bothers me, then they are sadly mistaken. My biggest issue at the moment is the number of coconuts falling on the lawn, and the terrible exchange rate caused by the UK recession.

I did ask old dried up to let me have an address so that she could make her points face to face, but she declined; I have the address of the other old twit.

That must be quite dangerous. A half kilo coconut falling at say 20 meters/sec = serious damage. Poor you! It's almost like living in a war zone. When can you get out of there to find somewhere decent to live?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
  • Hi

I have been quite a prolific user of these forums over the past three years (although I probably have read more than I have written, maybe I haven't had much to contribute). Over the past month or so, we seem to have seen a distinct polarisation between the bulls and the bears in terms of their view on the UK economy in general. Discussions have become increasingly nasty with name-calling becoming commonplace. It is in this regard that I had a sincere request - can we put an absolute stop to any confrontational behaviour on these forums? It is challenging enough to find information you need by using the search functions or identifying the most relevant forum topic. What makes it even worse is having to trawl through increasingly irrelevant personal insults hurled by posters against each other.

One may react to these incessant cross-insults by simply opting out of the site and not contributing any longer, as indeed some of the regular posters have done, some not having returned (unfortunately) and others having come back. I am clear that I will continue to use these forums, simply because its utility overall still outweighs the time and effort involved in getting information (although this is fast deteriorating). Another way of reacting is to simply ignore the guys most prone to making these personal comments. Unfortunately, it is the same guys who also add considerable value to the forums, with links both positive and negative about the general market conditions, giving me the balanced outlook of the market that I would need, and for me to decide what articles / statistics to take seriously and which to take with a pinch of salt. So marking these guys as IGNORE also doesn't seem to be an option.

It is for this reason that I make this request - can we please exercise discretion in our counter-arguments and just ignore personal insults that others may hurl our way? Hope this doesn't come across as a patronising gesture, but more a sign of my frustration (and possibly others using this forum) to put an end to this nonsense and get on with posting your most valuable relevant comments that I look forward to everytime I log on?

    Cheers
    WW

    Hi WW,

I am not sure I totally agree with you, I see this forum as a kind of pub discussion and enjoy the odd jab at each other. You are correct where someone whole post is just an insult, but were you have a valid point and you make it but the add on to the end an insult (obviously not too harsh) a similar one to what you would say to a friend in a pub if you think he is talking crap, I dont see the harm in this.

Hopefully you don't have anyone here that is so weak willed they they consider killing themselves or someone else because I or DD or !!!!!!? disagree with then on the economy and what direct we are going in, and through the odd insult there way.

These board are for the most part tame compared to your average pub disagreement regarding philosopy, politics, etc.

    WalletWatch you fool ;)
  • Whether I agree with the sentiment of the original post or not, to 'ask' people how to behave on an internet forum is more than patronising.

This forum is both free, and unmoderated. You take it as it comes, or find one that's more suitable to your needs (or create your own if you're so inclined).

Wasn't it also indicated that she may be a Mail Order Bride and that you were a winging old Munter and the only Keyboard Warrior to award himself a rank? I'm sure it was something along those lines.

Shameful...................... Though I'm certain that it was because you were insulting people and their intelligence.

I don't disagree with your observation. As I said in my original post, my main issue is with insults taking centre stage rather than what the forum is all about. I cannot, for instance, put DD on my ignore list, since some of his comebacks are hilarious, but he does overdo his aggro on a number of occasions. I think contributors like jp and chucky make some very pithy observations on the positive side, and !!!!!!? and Carolt for instance, do so on the not-so-positive aspects. Mind you, this is not to say that any of them is right or is wrong, just that the odd jab or a couple apart, it would be more helpful to know their views on the latest happenings rather than on who out here is an idiot, a scumbag, etc.

  • I have the address of the other old twit.

    Old Capt., now a stalker...hmm
I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another, so please feel free to ignore this.
