TBH, I think you're being a little sensitive. I think I've stood up for you in the past. It might be that it was one of my alter egos of course (haha).
My feeling FWIW is that this board will die a death if people keep just slagging each other off all the time. It gets boring and is very offputting to newbies.
The trouble is that there are so many alternative usernames used on this board that all newbies are now viewed with suspicion. Take scousethife for instance, s/he has made all of 5 posts since joining this month and the two I've read are both rants (can't be bothered looking at the posting history to see what the other three are about). People aren't even bothing to disguise them anymore.
I ask again, what is the point of creating an anonymous logon to shield the identity of an anonymous logon? It's pathetic. If you're embarrased making a post with your 'usual' username, then it's probably best not to make it at all.Mortgage Free in 3 Years (Apr 2007 / Currently / Δ Difference)

You'll probably find that the people with multiple usernames have bad personal hygiene, probably are overweight, have no friends, and works as a Traffic Warden or IT programmer.I am a Mortgage Consultant and don't like to be told what I can and can't put in a signature so long as it's legal and truthful.0

The obvious ones are where you have a name with up to 100 posts to their name who suddenly takes an interest in a particular slanging match, slates you, !!!!!! or carolt for no obvious reason and then goes back into obscurity.
I don't really understand why this keeps happening but it's starting to bore the pants off me.0 -

I'll really miss his witty remarks. Many of them had me belly laughing.
Actually being serious for a moment, has anyone seen anything remotely humourous written by !!!!!!? I don't mean unintentional humour because then most of his posts would qualify. I have to say I have never seen nary a one.
Does this mean that !!!!!! is a terminator, a cyborg sent back from the future to warn us all about the imploding house price crash that will cause Judgement Day and destroy humanity!
OMG! I think so. It's the only explanation that fits!
I first thought it was because he was a pompous miserable b'stard, but no, the cyborg theory ticks all the boxes!!!
:rotfl: :rotfl:
All he wants to do is try to speed up his so called crash, thinking that if he keeps posting meaningless reports of never ending doom word will spread then fear will grip this country and he will finally get on the ladder.
You will then see him talking up the market so much that HPI will take off, he will then sell off at the top and STR with a huge bag of cash.
Come to think of it that aint to bad a idea.0 -

Frankly if anyone thinks that posting a link to the Daily Mail website business section and a few bon mots is going to change the value of housing in the UK then they're even more deluded I suspected!0 -

As a point of interest, the strange thing about this statement (bad personal hygiene and overweight) is that I have always found that it is nearly always smokers who say it. Little realising of course that as a smoker, their breathe always smells, their teeth and fingers are yellow and the permanently smell of a dirty ashtray from 20 paces away. We can't tell from the internet who says it, but watch who says it next time you are out.0 -

I don't, but I do think people's posts are influenced by their circumstances, desires and general demeanor (whether they're optimistic or pessimistic generally in their life).
The guys who are desperate to buy a house are of course going to be very interested in any news reports that help leverage their ambitions. The reason there are so many arguments in here is because they're so emotionally attached to their goal that if one posts anything positive, they see it as undermining their house buying dream and they respond in an emotive way. This makes them very easy to wind up; simply creating a thread mentioning the return of HPI or 'green shoots' will have them foaming at the mouth and ranting.
Some others have their own homes but have a pessimistic demeanor and so tend to post negative messages.
The only people who are impacted by this are the poor unfortunates who chance across this board and go away thinking that armageddon is just around the corner.Mortgage Free in 3 Years (Apr 2007 / Currently / Δ Difference)
