I rang Sky last night to see if there was any offers for existing customers and got nowhere! So I cancelled my movies, sport and HD so monthly fee has gone from £61 to £24. I've still got it over christmas so the kids will be happy!
I'll wait and see if they contact me with any offers, but recently the movies have been rubbish and I don't watch the sport much anyway, so no great loss!0 -

Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
I did similar in the analogue days (same comment about the movies BTW) and, now that the kids are long gone and prices have risen inexorably each year, we're on 2 packs and no premium channels.
I don't think I'll miss the movies and the sport, but I think I'll miss the HD, but it's not worth paying £10 a month just for Sky1 HD! I can see me getting all the channels back within the next month or so, offer or not!0 -
Not read the full thread so I dont know whether what I got offered today is any good but it seems to be, got offered a free sky+hd box to replace my standard box, with free installation and no monthly charge for sky+. I dont known whether he was blagging me but he said that it normally costs £10 month I dont know whether thats right or not.
He told me that I had saved £270, I again dont know whether thats correct but it seems like a good deal.0 -
There is no monthly charge for Sky+ any longer - if you have any Sky subscription.
There is, however, a £10.25 charge for the HD pack.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Don't ask me anything about gardening though! My favourite gardening comment is that weeds are plants someone doesn't like.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. I've been with Sky for just over 2 years now (moved from Virgin when a great Friends & Family Sky deal came up).
Recently the Planner on Sky HD box crashes my box all the time - got them to arrange an engineer without the £65 call out fee, but I also called Virgin to see what they could offer and it was:
Free installation
V+ HD box
TV XL
Phone M
BB M
£33.49 for first 6 months
£51.99 thereafter (cheaper than my current SKY contract)
£30 credit on my first bill.
I checked out Quidco and couldn't build a deal cheaper than this even with cashback.
After agreeing the deal the call centre guy in India mentioned I had to pay £49 for the HD box. I told him if that was true the deal was off and after putting me on hold for a minute he agreed to waive this :j
I'm looking forward to ESPN in HD (which would have cost over £9 on SKY) as part of my package and also TV On Demand, which I believe is better than Sky Anytime.0 -
Just phoned up Sky to get the Disney Cinemagic channel for the kids (honset !) over Christmas. It's normally £5 a month. However the nice man on the other end of the phone was offering me all kinds of deals. Half price full package, if I took movies and sport etc.
They must be trying to get some money in for the Christmas bonus ! I ended up being offered and taking the half price movies for £8 a month for 3 months.
After hanging up I called a few people I know and a couple of them have also successfully got the same offer.
Worth a call and a haggle !The Garleon hath spoken, oh yeth he hath.0
