3rd March - In Fleet Street - details are on the BAG site if you're interested.

I'm in the process of trying to get Mark Thomas down there and Andrew George - and maybe even Vincent Cable.
  • i bank with the hsbc and after reading this forum was just wondering if i am entitled to a refund on bank charges.

    on the 12th sept 05 i was charged 20.00

    the 13th oct 05 i was charged 14.00

    the 12th nov 05 i was charged 20.00

    the 13th dec 05 i was charged 75.00

    total = 129.00

all these charges were for going overdrawn when i did not have a overdraft facility, silly things like paypal and stuff.

whats the best thing to do and is there a certain letter i need to send them if so?

While i was just browsing the links in this thread, I noticed that a daily intrest rate of 0.022% is mentioned in the bank_charges_claim_in_person.pdf on the https://www.bankchargeshell.co.uk website, whereas a rate of 0.00022% (post #86) is quoted in this thread, which is correct?

    0.00022%

    I wish it was 0.022% though - I was charged £30 in March 2003 - I'd have £691.02 in interest now if it was 0.022% ;-)

  • I am in the process of filling out the summary cause summons as I live in Scotland. The bank sent me a copy of all of my bank statements going back to 2003 but they only list the amounts they took as 'Charges as notified'. They are varying amounts depending on whar they were for i.e. £30, £35 and £39 for a bounced DD/SO (they increased over the last 3 years) £28 for an unauthorised overdraft fee etc. Some have two charges lumped together i.e. 'Charges as notified' £78 which is for 2 charges charged at the same time.

The reason I am asking is that after reading it says I need a list comprising of the actual reason the amount was taken i.e. 'failed standing order charge' £39 etc etc. Is this important or can I just use my bank statements and every charge appears as 'charges as notified' without them actually specifying the exact reason for the charge. Could I just in my spreadsheet explain each charge myself as the amounts taken give away what the charge was for or must the spreadsheet stuff match the statement exactly?
  • Hi Dc

Tried to PM you this but you're over storage limit - i guess a lot of people doing the same! Here goes anyway...

Just having phone merry go rounds with Lloyds and after a bit of advice. I'm off on holiday for 3 weeks on sunday and am loathe to wait until I get back to get it sorted. If they are looking into the problem and I start legal proceedings without telling them - im !!!!!! off with talking to staff who are either playing dumb or are not playing, just are - will this in any way work against me. I messed up by ingoring the perfect procedure as my original letter was to get statements AND tell them I would start proceedings if they didnt pay up. I'm only claiming for £100 but have had enough going round every single number in the lloyds book.

    Cheers
    Bob
And if, you know, your history...

If everyone had to work out how much they had got back for an hours work then there would be some happy bunnys out there, when was the last time you got £1850 for an hours work ?
The trouble with thinking like this is you aren't in fact getting £1850 for an hours work. It was your money to begin with. Now if you were to get £2000 back from them for £1850 in charges you could claim you were getting £150 for an hours work...
