I wrote to Asset Link and asked them to explain charges appearing on my account. I did default a year ago but am now paying through a free debt management company. However, they state "Upon service of the default notice and calling in letters, charges were made for each letter at the rate of £50". Can I do anything about this? Charging £50 per letter!
They also go on to say that amounts on my account £0.19 and £0.01 they have no record of and I am to "assume these adjustments were for correction of interest charges to the account" I know it's only pennies but the cheek of it! Just assume!!

Well hardly. We are told that these charges are to "cover costs". So they can't really be used to reduce interest rates too, can they? In any case, it does not follow that the organisations with the best interest rates also operate penalty fees: these are determined by competition for savers and influenced by base rates.
  • I mean - there are people that never get charged because they don't miss payments ect --- what do they get for that? silch
  • Carlih1,
Keep going, the halifax (note the lowercase H) seem to think they are a law unto themselves and are nothing but the biggest bunch of bullys Ive ever come across,
or at least on a par with sKY,o2 and wESCOT.
    Just follow the procedure.
1 nice phone call - gets you nowhere, give them half hour on the phone
2 nice letter shorter the better (recorded delivery) - gets you a brush off, 15 mins
3 not so nice lettler telling them of procedings in 7 days ( rec/del ) - Waste of time but you can prove you have tried to a court (Procedure and all that), 15 mins
4 issue procedings via moneyclaime, takes 15 mins

If everyone had to work out how much they had got back for an hours work then there would be some happy bunnys out there, when was the last time you got £1850 for an hours work ?

Its hard to stand up to such bullys but gives you a sense of justice when you get the letter about 'Good Faith' and off course all your money back.

Best of Luck and cant wait to see that post of 'I WON'

And what do you supose the others are getting? Nothing more than the money stolen from them.
I'm one of the "lucky" ones who doesn't have bank charges, well I had one which was refunded about 25yrs ago, but I smile at every success story on this thread.
People like you have decried what happens on this thread before and I just think, "there goes another misguided sad person" who doesn't like seeing someone elses gain.
Who do you think has been keeping your banking so cheap for years? Well I'll tell you, it is the thousands of people paying these penalties. Well it's time you paid for your own banking.
  • Carlih1,

An otherwise perfect record for 24 years, apart from sKY and o2

Maybe you have been lucky so far , you may read this a little differently when they screw up on you . I do Now
