Dh is convinced I've got it wrong that we stand a chance of reclaiming all this money (over £400 in one month with first direct)
Just some reassurance needed please
Reassurance - you can have plenty mate just go for it.
If I was looking at the amounts your talking about I would be sat here well happy as Ive only ever needed to claim back scrappy amounts. Ironicaly it does not seem to matter to them if its a little or a lot they just wont put their hand on the courtroom door.
You may have a few doubt's or butterflies, I did ..... more than once.

The sums of money we've all been talking about are less than a drop in the ocean for them - it could be 50 million and they'd still pay it - if they knew they could get away without any media attention.0

Must claim back bank charges!!!:rolleyes:0 -
Dchurch,
I sent the standard letter to the halifax asking them to refund the charges.
They have replied with the usual "not paying up reply". But they said they are sending statements for the past six years. Well its 36 days now & no statements.Should I wait or can I just take them to court..............if so do I guess the amount of charges.
thanks for all your help.0 -
us,thecat&thedebt: they're not really leaving you much choice are they? - if it were me I'd go straight to https://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk and give them the good news. Bear in mind, that one day, one of them will take this to a court. I believe a case would be won by anyone taking action against them, so I would relish it if it were me. However if you don't want to go to court, then don't do it. The odds of them going to court are slim, so weight up the pros and cons. You can start action and of course you can stop it at any time - 'sup to you, but I know what I would do.
mx-3: Give them 4 more days - if the goods don't turn up, then go to https://www.infomationcommisioner.gov.uk and report them for non-complience with the Data Protection Act.0 -
cheers dave,

I hope this suggestion doesn't go against any of the forum rules.the BAG site is now starting to hurt my (our) pockets somewhat!!
I have been thinking about this issue .I personally have read everyones comments on here and B.A.G., I have asked and used there advice, and I have and in the future will use letter templates. If I was to see a solicitor it would cost me a fortune to get all this information and WOW how much just for one letter ? Yet all this information is given freely and THANK YOU to everyone for that.I can not afford to be giving money away but this is money I didn't even realise was owed to me and wouldn't of ever saw if it wasn't for this thread,so it will be a nice bonus when I get it.I would be very willing to give some of this money to B.A.G. so that the site is not just costing a few people money and people can carry on getting all this information ,free. Maybe if people who get their charges back give a little it will continue to help others ? If we all gave just a few £'s even, when we win, I'm sure it would go along way ,correct me if I'm wrong.
Also I have seen on this site that people who go to the media 'boasting' are really frowned upon by others .In these circumstances would it be seen as in everyones interest or still frowned upon.?( reason I'm asking this is someone earlier said he had done it and no one responded to him , so wasn't sure if it was being frowned on again but couldn't understand why )Wish I could stop editing EVERY post I make :mad:0 -
I don't frown on it at all - the more people who know that they are being ripped off the better. If people in the media mean that more people search google for 'Bank Charges' and the like, the more people and up at the site and the more people get their money back.
If everyone did this, then the banks would HAVE to change their ways.0 -
