It was just a brief piece where people got some refunds for bank charges and they voiced opinons of bank charges.

I didn`t see channel 5,but sky news just had a big report. The bank spokesman said, live on tv,that everytime you go overdrawn or get a rejected DD,then 2 people have to manually intervene to deal with this. And i thought it was just an automated process.
Could someone from a bank please confirm that this man is talking rubbish.

Well if that is the case, as others have already said in this thread, you can ask to see all the info they hold about you which will include ALL the manual entries by manual people doing these manual charges! I very much doubt the banks will be able to prove they do this, it is completely automated these days, you go overdrawn, computer doesnt say no, it says kerching and it fires a letter off to you. I think thats why most say the charge will be applied in x days, possibly giving some time to contact the branch and ask them to reverse the charge before the computer has the chance to apply the charge? I dunno, its just my theory.

Well guys I sent the letter stating that I was giving them 14 days to pay up or else.

I've received a letter today stating that they are still collating the requested data but there is a £10 charge - fair enough but that they still consider the charges fair (well they would wouldn't they, lol!)

Anyway is it still worth paying the £10 for the information or I simply reply that having gone through the statements I am happy to base my claim on the figure that I've arrived at and that if I don't get a response within the original timescale (ie 7 days from the 2nd letter I sent them) that I will initiate court proceedings??
