Just caught up - another one here Beth sending positive vibes and huge hugs for both you & your DH. Hope you have managed to find out a bit more about how he is and as someone (sorry can't remember who) said, the treatment now is very good.

PenPin, I think it sounds like your helper is already taking advantage of you & you will have to grit your teeth & brace for another change. If it's only 1 day a week then perhaps the south-african lady would work out? I just think if someone is already so unreliable then it is only going to get worse. It's such a shame though Hope you get it sorted soon.

Beth....hugs, positive vibes and prayers for you both...hope that by now you have got to the hospital and seen OH yourself.

Please remember that there is nearly always someone here who will listen to you if you need a moan...and that full recovery from strokes is more and more common these days.

I have had so much kindness, love, thoughts and prayers sent to me. I was going to say I'm astounded, but I'm not because I know that this thread is full of caring friends. Don't think I would have coped without sharing my life with you lot.

Latest news from Hosp.
They have done every test imaginable and will do a brain scan tomorrow. DH's cholesteral is 7, it should be 4. They have to get it down to 3.5 because of the stroke. We eat fresh food only, no fryed food, no processed at all.

Some OSer I am.

DH has had 4 blood tests and 2ECG's within the last 4 wks. He went to Drs. because his hand was swollen and painfull. I can understand the blood tests but why the ECG's. Still haven't had the results.

DD2 had to see Dr at 5 today as she was so unwell, She's 3.5 mths pregnant and her BP is sky high. Dr has said no work. I said if she tried to go I would sit on her. She and SiL 2b are of to Maldives on Sun. DD2 doesn't want to go because she is worried about her DDad.

Phoned DB2 to tell him about DH. His Daughter left home tonight to go and live with her Mother. He is devastated. For those not in the know DB2 (as well as DD1 has Cancer) but has not told his kids.

OMG, Just read back and this is like a scene out of Peyton Place. Come on, own up who remembers that prog.

Told you I'd waffle. Bet I will read back on this day and feel very embaressed.
Thank you for not losing the will to live if you have gotten this far.

Beth - first of all, glad you have got some updates & tests are being done, etc for your OH. They will get him sorted. Second, you ARE a great OSer!!! I don't know the technicalities of it all, but I'm sure cholesterol isn't just to do with food - so don't you dare think it's down to you....
(((((((((((((huge hugs)))))))))))) for you, OH, DD's and DB'sas well..... I'm sure you don't know quite which way to turn - the only comfort we can offer you is that there is usually someone around for you to come & waffle at.. (sorry, I don't remember Peyton Place).
Did your DD's doctor say it was ok for her to fly with high BP???
And you're right, you will get through all this. PLEASE make sure you try & look after yourself as well (easier said than done I know).

Update from the hospital is there is still no news but he looked better when I saw him today. Oh and I cried down the phone to MIL (the shame).

It has been a busy week so far, lots done. I managed over the weekend to wash all the windows, nets and declutter all of the sills. I have given up on the boys carpet in the corner where LO is peeing and have cut out that area and binned it. It has been scrubbed and carpet cleaned repeatedly and still stinks so I made an executive decision and off it went. I will replace the carpet eventually but not until I am sure he has stopped this. The mountain of ironing took 6 hours over two nights and so the little molehill in the kitchen will be despatched tomorrow before it multiplies.

The remainder of the week I need to tidy up and weed the front, paint the little gate (weather permitting), get on top of the phonecalls and bits of paperwork I need to do, fill in the passport applications and get the photos done and also one evening try to upload some photos on to my lappy and then show you my gardens. I also have the last photo I took of Eric on my phone and I would like to see if I can upload that and send his sister a copy of it.

I am also going to work out a day trip for the kids either Sat. or Sun. on the train to Anglesey for a picnic and a ramble. I am sure they will enjoy that and it will be one less day of bickering (well less bickering anyway! )

Anyway off to do the lunchbags,

About cholestrol - there can be other factors at play not only diet......see here http://hcd2.bupa.co.uk/fact_sheets/Mosby_factsheets/cholesterol.html

Please don't beat yourself up about your diet, the hospital will start him on some tablets that will reduce the cholesterol level fairly rapidly (one of the statin family) and run through OH's diet to see what changes need making.

Try and get some sleep tonight hun. I am thinking of you.
