The first obvious question is do you have this issue on other forums?
I don't visit many forums, but those that I do, either don't have sigs or if they do the sig text is the same size as the post text
Do you have the same issue with Internet explorer, or opera?
No, neither the font size issue (the sigs) nor the non wrapping of text with no spaces - i.e. IE6 on my 'puter does auto wrap the long text.
What effect does changing the screen resolution and font sizes (in the display properties - appearance) have on this issue?
I am on max resolution possible, reducing resolution reduces display quality, displayproperties/appearance is set to windows default, & desktop & font sizes are not offered for desktop mode - if I change from 'desktop' then font sizes become available, I decided to just leave it on desktop and not bother fiddling.
(on your screenshots it looks like your fonts are larger than standard, however in fairness increasing/decreasing font sizes in FF3, the forum still still resizes for me, but when it got too big it went off the page)
On my screen shots the font size of the sig is oversized but the post text is the normal.
Also id imagine you have the latest graphic drivers for your graphics card.
It's not a great card but yes I do, my monitor is what really holds me back I think.

    My screen resolution is 1280 x 800
My windows font size is normal
mine is 1024x764 and I believe mine is also normal (default).

Mine was set to 30, changing it to 16 fixed the problem. I suggest you try looking at Sarah's post a few posts above this one (with the sig) then change that setting to 56 and watch how the post text remains the same but the sig text increases big time. - it happens also on some websites such as Google home page, the text top left remains the same but all other text increases.

Seeing as that function refers to "default font size" perhaps this forum sets the message post box text size in the source code, but does not set the size of the sig text, so no matter what the setting is in that font size setting the message text will always be overrided by the webpages font size source code, but the sig text is not controlled by the webpage so it does not get overridden and is displayed large and small as per the default setting.

    click advanced
Make sure the tick box os set to allow pages to choose there on fonts
    It was ticked

    Yes

You have solved the problem of the over sized sigs for me - and you will probably see this effect for yourself if you try it, but I guess the text wrapping is just an issue that FF2 cannot cope with.

Thanks very much for the help.

you mean you didn't think of the obvious - to switch off the signature viewing :D

quick links > edit options > scrolldown to thread display options > untick show signatures

I didn't know I could do that. I've just done it, I never read sigs anyway. Though yours is one of the better ones. :)
