Just done it with virgin on phone now. 2 mins.

in my experience, VM really do provide excellent customer service for their mobiles. It's just they aren't very competitive when it comes to price on longer term contracts/high-end phones...

This can differ if you're already a virgin media customer - gets you discount - but still is wildly higher at times than any other phone seller.

I too have found Virgin Mobile customer service excellent. Much better than over at Virgin Media. I'm very happy with the service both provide, but when you need that wee bit of extra help, have always found the mobile side of things to be a lot more helpful.

Fyi, if anybody is having difficulty getting a pac code from their provider (any provider, not just virgin), it might be worth quoting ofcom regs to them:

"For individual or small business customers wanting to port no more than 25 mobile numbers, the PAC should be despatched within two working days of your request. Some providers may provide you with a PAC immediately over the phone; others may issue it by post, email or SMS."

It's also worth knowing that they cannot refuse to give you a pac code if you owe them money (which presumably also covers pac code requests when you are still under contract).

My virgin mobile contract ends at the end of August

I requested a PAC and was advised I Would have to pay line rental changes to the end of my contract. Fair enough.

I was also advised that because I am outside the last month of my contract I would immediately loose my existing call/text allowance. I assumed that I would keep the allowances for the duration of the 30 Day PAC validity period. Is the Agent right?

If I call to request the PAC exactly 1 month before my contract expires will that serve as a notice to terminate, and prevent a continuation of the service beyond the contract period?.

    Many thanks.

My 18 month contract ends at the start of August.
    It`s £8-50 a month for 100 minutes and 100 texts.
A deal that you can`t find anywhere currently.
DAK what will happen if I don`t contact Virgin at the end of the contract.
Will I just continue as I am?
  • My wife has been trying to get a PAC from Virgin for several days now. Apparently their system is down. Yesterday, she was asked to try calling them again on Friday. No way they can be meeting their 2 day obligation this week!

Yes you will, you'll still pay the same amount and get the same allowances but you will no longer by locked into a contract, you just need to give 30 days notice if you wish to cancel
  • I rang 789 and after hanging on for 15 minutes I got through to a real person who gave me my PAC code. Total time 20 mins 45 secs. But all for 10p and a direct answer straight away.
I never had any problems, but new iPhone led to a change to Giffgaff.
    Bye bye Virgin/T Mobile.
  • I had about 1.5 months left on my contract, got a giffgaff sim, tested it, then decided to port my number before cancelling my account. I called 789 from my mobile - almost every line i tried had me on hold for ages, except for the cancellations team (option 3 then option 2).

The first agent I spoke to (who sounded severely bored) - told me that A) I couldn't cancel my contract until the current month was over... and B) I couldn't request a PAC code until I was in the final contract month.

So I hung up, thought about it, realised this was clearly bull**** - and phoned back.

Same line, got another agent who took about 2 mins and gave me my PAC code over the phone - and told me I was able to cancel my contract at any time.

    So glad I'm leaving Virgin!
  • Tried twice to get my Virgin Mobile PAC code. Both unsccessful, cost 10p and sound suspicious.
First - after hanging on "difficulty with systems tonight - try another day" 10p gone and time wasted.
Second - After first telling me the password was wrong, then said "you can't get PAC code on Sunday, try tomorrow". another 10p gone.
    Still not got it.
    Good service ??
