Getting PAC code from Virgin Mobile !

Whats a PAC code please. I`m just looking at the sim only deal at the moment for £10 for my daughter but don`t really know what is involved and never heard of a PAC code.
Thanks0 -
Hello. It stands for Port Authorisation Code and enables you to transfer your current number from one network to another, if you decide to change neworks.
From your post I don't really think it would be relevant to you unless your daughter already has a sim card with another network and wants to keep that number.0 -
Thanks for the reply. Think we are going to go with pay as you go from Orange0

I've just phoned Virgin on 789. Cost me 10p flat rate on my mobile. I asked for my PAC code and they said i had to register with them first. This took about 4 minutes, and they just asked for my name and address. Then they put me on hold for 2 minutes and came back with my PAC code. Easy!0

I'm currently on hold on the phone to Virgin Mobile trying to get my PAC code and have been on hold for 24 minutes so far. I tried calling them a week ago to upgrade my phone with them (in effect giving them more money)and was on hold for 1 hr 6 mins! I didn't even speak to anyone, I hung up. This is why I'm leaving them for o2; disgraceful customer service.
I certainly hope I don't encounter the trouble I've read above. I shall keep you updated.0 -
I can`t beleive all the trouble Virgin is giving you all, sorry to hear that. We are moving to Virgin from Orange! We received our PAC code from Orange within 48 hours.0

Update: Virgin Mobile answered after 56 minutes on hold. I asked for a PAC code and the man said he could do it right there and then over the phone. He asked me a few security questions and then gave it to me clearly over the phone. No hassle at all.
I'm still glad I'm leaving Virgin. o2 seem to run a tight ship on customer service.0 -
I just called 789 option 0
A very efficient person asked my security question then put me on hold for 90 seconds and came back with a PAC which was also sent SMS. Also reminded me to use my credit (I was PAYG) and transfer telephone numbers off the SIM.
All in all a very satisfactory experience.. better than many in this thread.

I got my PAC code without any issues.
I have always thought Virgin have the best customer service and would have liked to have stayed with them but my phone is only on O2.
Called up and selected option for call centre. Was not put on hold- got straight through. Asked for PAC and got it by SMS within a few hours.
Very efficient service!0 -
Yes, moved last week from Virgin to ASDA - no charge for call which was answered almost straightaway. PAC provided with no probs - up and running on ASDA with transferred number 2 days later - simples.0
