Hi Marsden cuckoo with regards to us earning less I have checked my invoices and we did get an increase in commission. Only realised this when I went to do a return which was £10 and was about to fill in amount I paid and realised I had gotten more than the 25 %. So we have been getting more than the 25 %. Not that I will notice any decrease as I haven't made any money this month I bought soooo much for Xmas fair and for myself . Mayby by Xmas I will have made something .
I have never met a calorie yet I didn't like!!

Thanks, Denise, looks like I did Avon an injustice there then (my other gripes still stand though! LOL)

While on the issue on consumables we use.... I wanted to print off stickers with my details on to save writing them on every order form, does anyone use or know where I can get A4 sheets of stickers which I can print out on please? Cheap as possible (as always!) cheers

Rather than use labels, have you thought about having an ink stamp made? Probably lots of companies do this but I used Vistaprint - seem to recall I got 250 calling cards, 100 postcards (look very professional if you want/need to leave an ad hoc message or just do some cold canvassing), self-inked stamp (small but legible - just about), 140 'sender labels' and a white short sleeved T-shirt (with AVON in big letters, a design and my contact details on the front) - all 'free' but you have to pay the postage. Cost me just under £10 You design your own so they all match. Did like the idea of the 'official' Avon T-shirt but it cost me less to do it via Vistaprint.

  • Reverting to bags, I checked out our local 'one-stop shop', Somerfield, Waitrose and Lidl and opted - finally - for 25 large resealable freezer bags from Lidl at £1.59 Not cheap but they are almost twice as big as they need to be and good quality so hopefully people will use them when they put the bags out again (and they're big enough to put in the Avon goods if it's not a big order). Am using the Avon bags for my back order customers i.e. doesn't really matter if they get wrecked now and got to admit they do look more professional - it's just that they're not up to the job.

Did occur to me that as I was paying 6p a bag I might as well buy the Avon large carrier bags but, there again, they're not waterproof! What a shame Avon can't organise some good quality waterproof bags - at least we'd then get a small contribution to MOV.

Incidentally, was chuffed to receive an order from a new customer for £29 only to find out that £14 worth of that order is OOS i.e. from the clearance 17 catalogue (butterfly set and pink purse and charm set) :( Least that's what my online invoice says.....

ha, just refreshed and seen pugsley has found them in C16. Well done!
  • I've been using bags from these people for ages now - their 8" x 11" is perfect for the books (in fact their picture shows it with an Avon book). They are very tough, zip top bags and work out at about 3p - 4p each, depending how many you buy. I find that mine last months, so they are really cost effective. If you have people who you know won't give the book back, or in flats where they don't need keeping dry, then you could always use cheap sandwich bags, although I have to say I don't bother.

Assume I'm not alone in this.....

The new bags we've been encouraged to buy to protect our books are absolutely useless in my experience.:mad::mad: Have lost count of the amount of books ruined because customers put them out in the rain, eroneously expecting these new bags to be sufficient protection.

Won't be buying any more f these bags but I honestly feel we should all be credited with the cost of these useless 'sales aids'! Anyone else feel the same?

Whilst in moaning mood, thanks Aureol for letting us know about the drop in agents' commission rates due to VAT returning to its original rate in the New Year but.... a question..... Yes, I see the logic that it's not cost-effective to amend brochure prices because of the increase but did agents actually get an increase in their commission when the VAT rate was reduced? If not, really don't think Avon are being fair expecting us to 'foot the bill'!!:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Don't get me wrong, I am thoroughly enjoying doing Avon but occasionally I get the impression that at best Avon couldn't care less about their reps and at worst they try and rip us off. (Can't remember the exact details now but recently I noticed that an item in HT actually turned out to cost us more nett than when we sell it to a customer! What's the sense in that? )

    OK, rant over....

Yes we have actually been earning slightly more since the vat was decreased, hard to spot unless you check your invoice carefully as its obviously only pennies earnt extra on each product. When vat goes back to normal then we will be earning our 20%/25% again. So avon have been nice to us for once! But doesn't happen very often!!!
