Avon Hints and Tips (Part 2)

I think Moving wins the prize for Avon Experience of the year ... personally I'd march up to his house and shout very loudly 'Young Man! Are you decent?' to let him (and his neighbours) know you're onto him ... does sound like he was looking for an audience and a reaction.
Anyway, let me introduce myself. I'm Amber, live in Spain, and I'm thinking of doing Avon as an extra job. I used to do Virgin (sorry for swearing on your thread!), loved the products, but found I wasn't making anything. The kit was pricy, getting parties was difficult and with the cost of postage it just wasn't worth it. So I'm considering Avon on the grounds that the products are cheaper and well-known, and people might buy more frequently if they get more for their money (you use cheaper products faster).
As I live in a large city, where the housing is all flats (with entryphones, so forget catalogue drops), what would be the alternative for getting customers? Leaving cats at hairdressers etc? Am I correct in thinking that the startup costs are low? Would it be possible to get customers to pay with the order, or does it always have to be on delivery? TIA0 -
Hi Amber Sunshine,
welcome to the the thread.
It might be worth your while trying to get into the entrance of the flats and posting books through their letterboxes if you can. I found out yesterday that the flats I refused to drop at as they were throwing my books out in the street, had 3 customers wanting avon! Or maybe you could post a flyer through their mailboxes, if they are outside, saying if they want avon to contact you.
take a book and go everywhere! Hairdressers, beauticians, mother and baby clubs, supermarkets for the staff, friends, family, weight loss groups, church fetes, fundraisers, see if you can get a stall at any of these to show off avon products and books, bakeries, newsagents, restaurants, anywhere there are female staff working. Receptions at offices... the world is your limit.
Startup cost is £15, you have to pay £7.50 with first completed order, and £7.50 with second completed order. You get first 2 sets of books free and if you place an order for £178 or more, you get 3rd set of books free.
the more books you order after this, the cheaper for you.
And I would not recommend getting customers to pay with their orders. If items aren't in stock or don't turn up, it can cause problems refunding them. Payment should always be in cash on delivery.0 -

don't avon drive you mad sometimes
ok... so initially it was my own fault - on friday i placed my order and instead of ordering camp 16 books i ordered camp 17.
so, having realised my mistake i e-mailed them to ask for camp 16 to be added to my order. got e-mail confirmation yesterday that it had been done.
thankfully i went online to check the invoice - that was when i noticed that instead of adding 16 they had added 18 :eek:
could not believe it!!! went back and checked my email and i had definately asked for 16's!!!!
so e-mailed again this morning - looks like they have ordered me 16's this time but goodness knows when they will turn up
so... everyone double check what the invoice says if you e-mail them for additional items or an amendment!!
sorry for the rant:oit's nice to be important but more important to be nice!! :kisses3:0 -
I tried to put an additional order in online but didn't work so I went through fastrack. Made a complete mess of my C15 order, forgot a few on order day (last Friday) and got two more this week so had to do an additional order. And just looked at online invoice (delivery on Thursday) and they have recharged me £93 for things I have already returned!!! What is the best way to sort this out - do I have to phone them or can I just email? I can't afford to pay that so I hope it is sorted before my next order.
On a more positive note, I have already about £200 orders for C16:T and I haven't even got my C15 delivery, so it should be a good one this time:j I hope everyone else is doing fantastic in this run up to Christmas!LBM 31/01/2009: £19,422
