I like the idea of taking a bag full of goodies and letting people choose their own free gift. I think I might do that. I have offered a free gift if people spent over £20 - and was thinking of doing the same next camp. How often do you all give out free gifts? or samples?
I don't know whether to just do it every now and again or every camp. I know I LOVE free gifts!0 -
Hi all,
Thanks for the posts regarding freebie gifts. Think I will definitely offer a freebie with orders over £15 and take a bag of goodies with me when I deliver the orders to offer them their choice.
With regards to canvassing/recanvassing, I leave 3 consecutive books. If they don't place an order I leave it for a while then recanvass, again with 3 consecutive books. The road I've just finished recanvassing hadn't had a book since C18 (christmas) so I gave them C7,8 and 9 but one book behind (ie. just finished my c10 order for my regulars but this road had c9).
Regarding 'selective' canvassing - I always canvass every house in a particular territory. You will get to know fairly soon (ie. after the first brochure) what kind of client they are likely to be. Have picked up cats with dog pee on before (luckily realised before handling) and that was from a house in my road which looked quite respectable!! Other houses in my territory look a bit run down but do order regularly and leave cats out when required with no problem. I think it's just trial and error. Obviously I wouldn't canvass anywhere I didn't feel 'safe' HTH.

I'm just checking this on the SL forum but so far, the others are in agreement with me on the 0/20/25 rates - I'll keep you posted though. In addition to signing you up via the post and totally breaking the terms of her SL contract, it looks like your SL is also giving out misleading information I'm afraid.
ETA: A reply I've just received: The confusion is because we earn 25% AFTER VAT is deducted for orders £78-148, so NET 20%, and 30% AFTER VAT is deducted on orders over £148, so NET 25%.
I hope that helps.
Thanks for clearing that up - she specifially put those figures a typed letter welcomning me to her team.
I think i shall have to rng avon up and say something now as there's obvious imcompetence on her behalf.
Will they assign me a new sales leader?
Edit - SL has just got back to me with my request of extra territory i was a bit bold and gave her a list of 16 streets i would like and she has given me all but 2 of them so i now have an extra 157 houses to do, YAY. She says the other streets are already covered but i have family who live down those streets and they've never had a cat!!!:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T
:T fortune with those less fortunate :T
:T than themselves - you know who you are!:T0 -
Another random question... what's in the 10 for £10 deal everyone is on about. The ASM that signed me up didn't give me any C10 cats... feel like i might be missing out on that one.
I have now sorted an e-mail address out for her though but if i still don't get a reply i won't be very happy!!0 -

I don't know whether to just do it every now and again or every camp. I know I LOVE free gifts!
What I've been doing is lipstick samples (at random; just put my hand in the box), fragrance sample (whichever one I'm trying to plug, different one each camp) and a body/face samples that I'm trying to plug, like that blue thing they've been advertising on tv or the eye lift one. And everyone gets this pack of samples in with their order.
And free gifts, the past two camps I've done freebie for £20 or over and that might be too little since half of my 12 (or so) customers all order over £20 :rolleyes:0 -
With my OH new territory (which is a little rough in places!) - he delivered the books - if the house looked really bad then he missed them out - knowing that I was collecting the books on my own today. We've done pretty well got about £95 of orders out of 58 books - and only got about half of them back in so far, got to go for the rest tomorrow. So really pleased with that.
Unfortunately one person has ordered - and not put a name or address or anything! lol, OH is going to do a little note tonight to push through houses to see if we can track down the person! At least I know it isn't from the houses I haven't had a book back from, and it's not from the ones that have ordered & put details so only leaves about 20ish houses lol!
We did an offer this time for OH territory, where we will give a free gift if they spend £10 or more - yes it is a little low but we wanted to give a good impression and a few people have spent £20 so we won't be out of pocket. For my territory next time we will be doing spend £20+ get a free gift for most of the streets as they spend over £10 anyway. There is one of my streets where they only spend £3 so will make theres £10 as it is a little more achievable to get them to spend that much!Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0 -

Hopefully that link works!!! I think it's really good value - theres only a few things I can't use as freebies, but I sell a lot of feminine washes so I won't get stuck with that at least! And my sis can have the kids bits for my nephews!Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0
