I got one of the Beauty Bonus Bags for myself - I had one order for the Serum from C7 at £18, so it was worth forward ordering to get the Bonus Bag for an extra £2. I'll split it up to make 6 free gifts

We have the call-in's once a month, but I don't think I'd want to go every time; could get a bit 'samey' :p I've never been a huge fan of sales meetings.......I'd rather do it than talk about it :D

Having said that, it was nice to meet everyone, and I got some good ideas.

I've found that the yellow dots don't seem to mean much. I've never had one turn into a red cross, although now I've said that it will probably happen next time :p

I'm going down the route of hidden stickers for my next campaign (can't claim credit for the idea - came from a recent call-in ;)) The note on my collection day slip will say:
    ARE YOU A WINNER?
If you find a sticker hidden in the pages of your brochure you will win the prize written on it.
Simply attach the sticker to your completed order form and you will receive the prize with your order.

I shall place 4 stickers for items I have in the 'goodies box'

Should encourage people to look all the way through their book, and if they find a sticker they'll want to order to get their prize :D I don't really think that any amount of free gifts etc. make much difference to how much people buy, but I think it helps to constantly have new things to keep them interested!

I did the same sort of thing as Christmas. I hid (or rather my son did) a red sticker (Rudolph's nose!) on one of the pages in the Christmas brochure (towards the back) and all the customers who noted the page number on their order form got 10% discount. It was really good and encouraged a few people to spend more than they usually would because of the discount. I did the same in October for Breakthrough BreastCancer Month and gave 20% of my sales to the charity (£70), and for Valentine's Day I ran a prize draw for all customers who ordered over £10 to win a pair of the love heart pyjamas which I had bought in HT.

    Hi everyone

Thanks for welcome me Elliebee. Had a great first day, group of students to sign up next week (they all want to sign up at the same time, great as they are the ones 120miles away), 1 local rep to sign up that I swapped with someone else, as someone from Durham enquired via my website and 1 other person I cannot get hold of at the moment. So far the website seems to be the key!

Have my 15 year old delivering leaflets as well as we speak, so am certainly being proactive.
  • I placed my order on Friday as I was told my order days are Friday and my delivery days are Friday. I have contacted my SL by email to ask her if she was aware there was a change. Does that sound right? Order on a Friday and get it on the Wed?

    Hi Summer-Caitlin,

I live in Aberdeen area too and my order day is 10pm on Wednesday and order is delivered Monday lunchtime which leaves 2 full working days in between. Therefore I think that you ordering on a Friday and receiving order on Wednesday seems right.

Well done on your first order :T and believe me you have to check everything very closely. I once ordered eleven of an item but they sent my one! Charged me for eleven - when I phoned they asked me was I sure I hadn't got them! Quite sure!!

Definately check everything is there, I've had 2 cases of things being invoiced, but not in the boxes! When I rang up the second time they were like have you got all of your boxes, all of your books, bags, any of the boxes damaged.........we aren't stupid, we can tell if something is there or not!!!!

But, anything missing has been sent out as an immediate replacement arriving through the post within 7 days (have only been little items missing luckily) which wasn't too bad.
Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A

Yay, someone from my area!!! Hi, how long have you been a rep? yeah beginning to think that Wednesday might be the right delivery date, oh well that is much better actually.

Well bad news on many counts for me, had a flood on Thur (2.30am) burst water pipe and woke up to my living room, kitchen and hall completely flooded. The downstairs neigbour was banging on our roof with her cane as the water was pouring out of her light fittings and smoke alarms. My husband and I both took the day off yesterday to try and salvage some things. Luckily my Avon products were fine as I had put them in a cabinet the night before. Our house is a mess:mad: Stuff everywhere! Pulled up the carpet and loads of furniture is ruined.

Later on last night I had an Avon catalogue delivered through my door (first one in years) so I caught her in the stairwell and told her I was a rep and I do from my house downwards right to the end of the road. She told me this is the first time she has done my area and no one told her it was taken!! She told me she does the beginning of my road and all the streets around it!!! How can she have that many houses? That is loads! I am not sure if she is the rep (wouldn't give me her name), but someone is certainly doing some of my half of the street. I haven't delivered items to my customers yet, as I told them it would be from today onwards, as thought my delivery was coming today. When I do deliver, I am sure they will tell me if they have had a catalogue through their door. I am fuming, I think this girl has taken it upon herself to do more territory. I have emailed my SL and told her and asked for more territory.

Picked up 15 cats last night and no orders  Really need a good campaign to cheer me up!!

    Hi guys,

Am looking into becoming a rep at the moment, have asked for some information and am waiting on the call from a local sales leader. Just had a few quick questions that I wondered if you guys could help with?

Firstly, is the £15 start up fee the only cost you have to pay upfront or do you have to pay extra for your booklets? How much could I realistically expect to earn through putting in say, 20 hours a week in work? What do you like about selling Avon? Also, is there anything that you dislike? Finally, how quick is the process between initial contact and actually getting up and running?

I did have a brief spell selling Kleeneze a few years ago but stopped due to a) ridiculous prices for booklets and additional costs for using many of the essential services b) Not actually having any faith in the products being sold.

I have ordered from Avon in the past and find them cost effective and good value for money so would be confident selling their products.

Apologies for all the questions and thanks for any advice :o

    Welcome jovichick123

I will do my best to answer your questions even though I am a newbie myself and on my second campaign. Your £15 start up fee is billed in your first 2 campaigns (£7.50 in first and £7.50 in second) This should include your catalogues for the first two campaigns. After that you do have to buy your catalogues which come in packs of 5 and are approx £4.86 for the first 3 packs and 48p per pack after that. I don't have the figures on me so can't give completely accurate prices, but this would be pretty close. So you buy your catalogues for every campaign, how much depends on how many customers you get. You have the option to reuse your catalogues by having some of your territory on one campaign and the others on another one, this way you get more use out of them and are able to minimise costs.

The other fees associated include bags, paper and plastic, for holding your orders for customers, bags (like freezer bags) to deliver your Avon catalogue in, keeps it safe from the rain and clean. That is really all the fees and the bags are quite cheap and I highly recommend them as they look professional.

How much you earn depends on the territory you get and the amount of friends and family you have willing to order. I earned £98 commission on my first campaign, but I spent a lot myself on products that I wanted and had a good set of customers from the word go. The possibilites are endless really, you earn 20% for all orders over £78 and 25% for orders over £146. If you don't get orders above £78, you get nothing. I intially thought this would be difficult, but I found I quickly exceeded this target. This campaign I spent all my commission on products for me and things I could use as free gifts etc.

I am really enjoying selling Avon, I love make up and I find I can be passionate about the products. They always have good offers on and find they are very competitive price wise. You can also earn extra money for doing something enjoyable and I find I haven't had to spend loads of time doing it. My dislikes are territory confusion, loads of people seem to have this problem one time or another, where other reps invade your territory (happening to me right now). Other things include people not giving the catalogues back and having to chase them to do so.

I contacted a Sales Leader and within 2 days she contacted me and arranged a meeting. Within a week I was up and running with territory. I was lucky and had a full 3 weeks for my campaign which allowed me to get good sales.

Make sure you read through this thread (I know it's really long) but it has excellent tips. If you ahve any other questions please feel free to ask.

    Hope this has helped:o

You are having a run of bad luck aren't you Summer? Hope you get a good few orders to cheer you up!!
I only have 1 delivery left to do - said I would come back Monday, then I can pay for it!! Am going to pay at HSBC once this last customer has paid and it says there is a 50p admin charge, my payment is due on 14th so Monday 11th should be ok shouldn't it??
Looks like I have about £8 left for me!! BUT I ordered a weekend bag, which I am using as we speak on the train to London (We won't mention the HUGE other bag I have with all my clothes and shoes in!!) And some face wipes and a blemish stick as well as the free gifts, bags and cats. Probably won't order free gifts this camp as I have a couple spare and think I will need the money for a wedding I have at the end of the month.
1 order for £20 so far, but put a good few out last night, some C8 as I am running low now, and C9 on the 1st road I did on my C8. Fingers crossed I get some orders.
