  • I started Avon to earn extra cash to put towards holidays etc. Any money I make from avon goes into my savings which I think is great, my wages tend to get spent completely on bills! So far I am really enjoying doing Avon, I can bag myself a few treats every campaign and earn myself a bit of money. I don't have to buy any products from Avon if I don't want to, but I don't have a problem with their products.

I do think the cats could be cheaper or even free;), but I am prepared to pay it as I don't think I will need loads. I have had about 12 customers so far and they seem to like Avon so I think you are in the minority...

My tip regarding Avon would be dont bother! You spend a fortune on their trashy junk and catalogues and earn barely a thing!

:rotfl: if you say so, Luv

There are around 80 people in my area who buy on a regular basis, so obviously have dreadful taste, and some of us are sad enough to actually enjoy it and regard the money as a useful extra ;)

well luv for a company that's been on the go for 50 years they've done pretty good.how long did you 'attempt' to do it for?

haha..i just love people like you...the amount of reps that i have recruited that were very eager to start , then when it comes to place an order they come up with excuses e.g. i have done all my road but noone is interested...and place an order just over minumum order value and then wonder why the commision is so low.

avon can be as big or as small as you make it and it takes a while to build a good customer base...dont earn a thing? my first order came to £400 from 20 customers so that £100 for me. its been growing steadily ..the more people you get a book to the more possible sales you have but if you sit on the books and dont get your bum up dont expect anything in return.

let me guess 1 or 2 camps maximum
  • Well I am only on my first campaign and have only canvassed half my territory, intend to get them all done next campaign, half on one campaign and half on the other. So far I have orders sitting at about £200. Initially the first part of my territory didn't seem very good, but my customers slowly increased and I am not finished yet. Even if I earn £50 per campaign, I'm happy as it's extra money to me. Obviously I am not restricting myself to £50 ;) Looking forward to the end of my next campaign as I hope to have more customers by then so more commission for me:T

I only do family and friends
and I do it because I enjoy it,
I have a regular customer base of about 20 people
but it is something for me to do and it does give me a small amount for treats I otherwise wouldn't manage to get.
I am a stay at home mum of 2 boys and hubby works long hours greenkeeping and is training to qualify as a greenkeeper so money is tight some weeks.
At least this way I can but myself some perfumes and make up that would normally need to come out of our already tight budget.
I make around £30-40 a campaign and christmas time I had about £70
not huge amounts but definatly a boost and like others have said I enjoy it, maybe someday I will canvas and do door to door but for now I don't feel I want to or need to.
If Avon didn't suit you then fine but don't belittle the reps that do enjoy it.
Life is what you make it;)

I only started last week Monday, so far I have orders of over £300 :jand I have to collect the last 30 cats from my territory tomorrow, plus some stragglers and 2 people that said they wanted to order but did not have time to fill it in yet. My order deadline is 8th May, so next Friday - this will give me time to go back a few times for the ones that are not in tomorrow.

I am very pleased and pleasantly surprised as I had not expected this amount of orders - a £50 extra I make each campaign will be very much appreciated - and I have obviously done more than that already so far. And what is more - I enjoy doing it! :D So I for one will continue!!!

I would try Avon and try to add it to your next order if they have the stock. Sometimes you can order a product without going by the usual channels.
I did this last year when someone wanted a watch which was on special but it was between campaigns.

Anything is worth a try and if you can save spending £2.50 on postage all the better

they wouldn't do it-just said that i'd have to pay the £2.50.gone into my account and cos i'm on C9 i can't backorder to 7 ( i didn't think)so dunno why the chappie in india said i could.from my account i've sent avon a message telling them what i've said here and that i don't want to lose the sale.there must be some way round this.one would expect a charity item to be available at any time

My point exactly, couldn't have put it better myself! The company doing 'pretty good' is Avon, not you. Like someone else said, you will never become a millionaire doing Avon, the only real winners are Avon themselves. You have to PAY to advertise their products for goodness sake!

I did Avon for a few months, yes i could have carried on, but what on earth would be the point in that when i knew it was a dead loss after 2 or 3 campaigns? Who would i be helping? Avon yes, me no. I'm sorry but trawling the streets for hours on end with someone elses adverts which i paid for for about a tenner a week is not my idea of fun!! If it is yours, then i'm happy for you. I'm not saying you should stop, i just think that sometimes knowing when to give it up as a bad job is better than to keep going to try to prove something which (in my opinion) you never will.
