I have tried ads on gumtree, i have posted a classified ad on ebay, i have advertised on my facebook status... but nothing has come of any of them![/quote]
I placed an ad on gumtree and got one client who places an order of about £20 for the last 2 campaigns - bit of a pain as its a 30 min drive away but hopefully it will develop as she lives in a block of flats so am tempted to see if anyone else in the block wants a book - With flats what I do is attach a note to a old book and say this is the Avon Cat - Sorry its out of date but if you would like to regularly receive one, please let me know and I will get the new one out to you - Put my tele and email address (this hasnt resulted in any yet but its a great way of canvassing the flats as you never get your books back from flats as you cant always get it and I dont feel so bad recycling my books as I hope that they do me some good and get me some extra customers ) I think there is about 50 flats so good possabilities !!!!! and she definitely said that they have never had a book in the 2 yrs that they have been there
I thought about doing this on the industrial estate adjacent to my territory cause I havent got the guts to just go in and see if the Ladies in the office would like a book - thought I might just post a book through the letterbox - again an old one and see if anyone emails me back ???? Gotta be worth a try ???
I did put on my facebook status that my order for Avon was due in tomorrow does anyone want anything - check on the website and let me know and I got a small order £7.50 from an old work colleague that I dont see so have reconnected with her and she has also shown the book to her Mum
I think the thing is If at 1st you dont suceed try try again !!!!!!!!!!

You've got a point there - I know if my Kleeneze book has too many 'extras' I get discouraged and can't even be bothered looking. I think it can sometimes detract from the main issue  I think I might ignore them and if anyone has seen one elsewhere, I can always say I didn't get them.
I'm in a similar position with regard to contacts. I only have a small Family and don't want to belong to any club that would have me as a member (full of Pensioners  ). I do drive.....usually:p ....which means I have a couple of shops that I take a book to, but don't get too much interest there. I also have my own hairdresser and another one who both order regularly (in fact one ordered 10 dry ends serum for the Salon last time round) I tried leafletting last Summer, along the lines of 'if you're not getting an Avon book and would like one....' but hadn't had any reply to around 150 leaflets. However I had a call last week from someone who has since moved a couple of miles away - she'd kept the leaflet, and when her friend stopped doing Avon she rang me. I got a £23 order between her and her neighbour :j
It may well be worth you dropping a book into any local hairdressers, even if you don't go very often (I only go once every couple of months - so not exactly a regular). Most hairdressers seem to like Avon, and you never know - you might strike lucky'Better to ask a silly question than to make a silly mistake' Elliebee's Mum

Sounds like great ideas to expand your customer base!
Getting excited about placing my first order on Monday - definately going to be going through the books and see what takes my fancyAlready decided on an eye gel.....but I'm sure there is lots more!!!
One thing I wanted to ask about - how do you all package your orders up? Do you staple the order form on the outside of the bag or put it in the inside? And do you always include the next catalogue in with the order or deliver that at a later date?
Also, can you use your own paper bags? I only ask as I got a lot on the internet, there really nice and a lot cheaper than Avon's, but obviously they don't say Avon on! Will that be ok???Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0 -
Hi Lozza - most of us still get excited about every delivery
I put all the items into an Avon bag (no reason why you can't use your own, but I sort of feel the name on the bag is part of the 'Avon experience'), I then put that, the copy order, a new book and a brief 'message from your Avon Lady' note (Just saying thanks for buying, date of next order/delivery etc) + any samples into a carrier bag (recycled supermarket one will do). That keeps everything together. Write on the outside of the bag the customers name, door number and amount to pay - you can loop them on your arm while you cope with the money too. Of course, if the items are larger, then you can put them into an Avon carrier bag and skip the paper bag.
I prefer to leave the copy order out of the paper bag in case I need to check what the customer ordered. You might also like to leave the top of the paper bag un-stapled until you've packed everything in case of that 'one item left over, or 1 short scenario. Start with the smallest orders and work up to the largest.....by a process of elimination you'll have less to sort through when you get to the largest ones.
For those who have heard this advice a hundred times, my apologies, but I know not everyone has had time to read through all the previous posts'Better to ask a silly question than to make a silly mistake' Elliebee's Mum

Anybody still waiting for gamecards, they still havent turned up0

I emailed before my order arrived and was assured that they would be there.....they weren't, of course.
Due to events meantime, I haven't got around to chasing them, but my customers are obviously less 'on the ball' than yours, as no-one has asked!'Better to ask a silly question than to make a silly mistake' Elliebee's Mum

no i havent had mine either despite the "be with you in 5-7 days" but havent chased them ... and none my customers have asked either!
(I do have 3 left over and the customer who won £100 on them backordered another £17 from C2... so i should really give them the 3 as they obviously realise they were entitled to them! Must remember to pass them on!!)
i also had 2 items missing from my order but didnt bother emailing them this time.. just asked for replacements on the credit system. Sick of emailing them every order with a problem   :rolleyes:0 -
Just dont want them to think we are sat in front of the TV scratching 85 game cards :rotfl:0

oh and while i remember....
re the calculators not working.....
i got sent a new organiser.... and guess what.. day before it arrived my calculator starting working while i was out chasing books on a rather sunny day...! :rotfl: But i checked the new one.. and it didnt work....... UNTIL i stood right under the main living room light..... I realised they all DO work they just need lots and lots of strong light to make them work!
So i have to return an organiser now that i said the calc didnt work on.. and it does!0
