I had a similar letter from these jokers yesterday stating I should phone them, obviously this will be ignored, I have checked my online credit report and I have no outstanding debts or ccj's in the last 6 years, I take it this means I have nothing to worry about?
I will send off the CCA letter should they actually present me with an amount.0 -

Shouldn't have anything to worry about, peezle - but if they contact you again, post details of the 'alleged debt' and we'll try to point you in the right direction.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Regarding MH
Hello, I'm Chris and my mother (She is under health service problems and has Disability Allowance as she is Mentally Ill) has received ONE LETTER and ONE SMS just like all the others that have received from MH.
This is for a debt that was held 7 years ago for a Sports Car with a debt of £9,300 or something.
My mother... being Ill, did not know what to do and had trouble over the phone talking to them. And she - not knowing from right from wrong... said... can I pay £50 a month, thats all I can afford...
Meanwhile.. they have said. NO you HAVE TO PAY A DOWN PAYMENT of £3,000 not caring she has an illness and has NO MONEY what so ever.
She being worried out her mind causing her more metal damage as she has been ill for about 12 years or more... led her to call them 2 times trying to make a deal to pay it monthly. They refused, and nothing has been done do far, no payments has been made. This has been in a span of 1 week.
Does anyone have any suggestions... I have read 95% of every posts on this thread and I was wondering if the file_wizzard post in Post #3 with the legally statute barred letter solve this problem?0 -
Hello Calber00
welcome to the forums, i'm a newbie like you, and find this site, and the people who post here invaluable
I would suggest that you write to them as per the template letters here asking for a true copy of the original signed agreement. Do not acknowledge the debt.
It might also be worth getting your mother to obtain her credit file from Experian, and Equifax, and checking if the debt shows there.
I am sure other, more experienced folks will be along later ( when they get home from work etc) to set you on the right path[strike]Debt @ LBM 04/07 £14,804[/strike]01/08 [strike]£10,472[/strike]now debt free:j
Target: Stay debt free0 -
I received a letter today from MH stating that i had refused to contact them despite numerous requests from them, they said that their client 1st credit would accept standing order payments if i filled out the form they attached within 7 days!!! 3 months ago this debt was being handled by Red Dot credit and i sent the Statute barred standard letter as the debt was from 7 years ago. I never heard anything from Red Dot until today when it would appear they have sold my information to MH.
Is this legal?
Also, should i send a copy of the letter that was sent to Red Dot or should i just ignore it?0 -

Send the Statute Barred letter - the one in the link is absolutely fine.
It does NOT matter if your mother has been co-erced into 'admitting' the debt, provided that there was a period of six years during which she niether made any payment towards, or acknowledged in writing, the alleged debt.
Once a debt becomes Statute Barred it remains Statute Barred, and the fact that your mother has, unwittingly, and possibly even under duress, made a payment, or promise of payment after the limitation period has passed does not 're-start' the six year cycle.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. It is contrary to the OFT guidelines on debt collection, http://www.oft.gov.uk/shared_oft/business_leaflets/consumer_credit/oft664.pdf for a creditor to use more than one dca to pursue the same debt.
Simply send the 'Statute Barred' letter to MH - if they persist, then report them to the Trading Standards Office.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.

The people who lived here before received this letter today. My fiancee being the nosey person he is decided to open it. Some people.lol.
What should we do?
He knows he shouldn't have opened it but we didn't have a forwarding address for them and curiosity got the better of him.
It says to phone or email them if we are not the people they are addressing or believe the letter has been sent in error.
I really don't want to disclose my email address to these people.
