But if their claim is bogus then surely they are commiting fraud as they are claiming money pretending to be the bank...I would have thought, I'm no expert btw

Their claim is unlikely to be bogus.

Is the debt not yours then?

You could always call the bank in question and make them aware that Mucky Halls are using their name. Most likely acting on behalf of the bank.

    Hi All,

New to MSM. I have been reading a few things on this Mackenzie lot. They have started to hassle my wife. She did have an unpaid loan with a bank back in 1999 which to our vague knowlegde was included in an IVA I believe and was forgotton about. Things have move on, different house, jobs etc but out of the blue she is now being sent letters and being called. Two things is how do they get the phone number despite being on one of those nusience call barring schemes and being as the debt is 13 years old is it still live?
On the last credit checks carried out a few years back there was no mention of any debt on her credit file?
If anyone can shed any light on this would be more than happy.
    Thanks

A debt that old won't appear on her credit file. They are removed 6 years after any default, and if under an IVA would have defaulted at the start of that at the latest. It's long gone from her file.

If covered by the IVA then she is no longer liable for the debt. If not covered, then it would be very much statute barred.

Either way, Muck Hall can take a long walk off a short pier. :)

  • Hi,
Posted yesterday about a problem with Muck Hall. I took the advise i recieved and have checked wifes credit file. Nothing shows on this but credit file only shows recent or current issues not aged. I used the free service from Noodle. Can anyone state if this Noodle company for credit reference is accurate before i open this can of worms with this debt agency?
Secondly did my own credit check and found i have a ccj against me for a 5 figure sum dated 2008 at an address i havent been at for 13 years. I do recall the issue for the debt but again i would despute this but what is the best course of action now?
Do i let it run the six year term ( this time next year is 6 years) and let it disappear or get more details on it, fight it and again open another can of worms?
Any advise would be great on both items.:)

I received a letter today from these clowns asking me to contact them about a personal matter. I phoned them out of curiosity and discovered them to be a debt collection agency.
I am not in any debt and never have been, so I was quite perplexed. I was asked for the Ref No. from the letter, address and DOB and then was informed that the DOB I gave them was not the same as the one on record.

It would appear that they have used the electoral role to discover anyone with the same name and in the same country as me, to send out letters on the off chance of finding the real person that is in debt. This is an absolute joke!

It's standard practice for these, and most other, DCA clowns.

Whack off a load of letters to people with the same name and hope for a bite. Whether the right person pays or not, they don't care as long as they get their money.
