Old Debt? Mackenzie Hall
Comments

It's DCA inception. A DCA within a DCA within a DCA within a DCA.
The resounding message here is that DCA's lie. Constantly.0 -
I have no unpaid debt but have received letters from mackenziehall & Cabot in last month - almost identically worded.
One cited an address I left circa 1986.
Am in correspondence with OFT & latest letter from mackenziehall asks me for my DOB & address history.
Paid my 2 quid to see they have done credit searches (mach-hall & Cabot). Whilst checking my record found nothing to alarm me or looks like identity theft.
Mac-hall also calls my complaint to OFT unfounded. Funny how they've taken it on then.
I am absolutely furious with this shower of low-life.
I want to know how to claim against them.
My good name and credit history is ofthreat importance to me & I should not have to put up with this nastiness.
That said, anyone with debt doesn't need a modern day version of the heavies.0 -
Claim in what way?0

Hi. I'm an 18 year old student and I've never had a debt - or even a credit card of any type. The only sort of thing Ive ever had that comes directly out of my account is my phone bill but I've always had the money in my account for it to come out of at the end of the month.
Lately I've been getting calls from Mackenzie hall, and by chance I've missed them each time. I'm now getting increasingly urgent voicemails telling me I have an unpaid debt. In one voicemail I think (but cant be sure) that they quoted my debt as being from the 1996 - in which case I would have been 3 years old. Today I even got a text message asking me to call them, quoting a customer reference number.
I thought I'd use ol' trusty google and found this forum so I thought I'd post my question: what am I supposed to do about this? Do I ignore them till they go away as I have no debts? Or do I call them and ask what they're playing at? I don't want to call them if it's a premium rate number! I am a student after all haha.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!0 -
Certainly wouldn't waste money phoning them.
You could email them @ enquiries@mackenziehall.co.uk to tell them above and to demand they remove your number from their system and cease calls, otherwise you will complain to the OFT and trading standards.
Or just ignore. Your call.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Hi all
Looking for some advise on mackenzie hall:mad:
I recieved a call from them on my mobile today which i missed as i was at work from them and while i was checking the number i got a call from them at work!!!
This took me completly by suprise and the woman asked me my name and address date of birth and to confirm it was me, which i did. She advised me it was regarding a debt which i have outstanding with the Halifax as an overdraft for £450.
I got myself into a fair bit of debt when i was younger and took help from citizens advise and they set up an agreement plan with my creditors which i still have in place for almost 6 years and im pretty sure this includes this overdraft. I told her this and she told me i need to double check this and call her back as no oayments have been passed to them.
I have then this afternoon recieved a text from them telling me to contact so i think i am going to be hounded by theses people.
Can the lovely people on here please confirm a few things for me.
1) Can they call me at my work
2) If no payments are going to this debt which i doubt where do i stand as its about 6 years old
3) If i have been paying this as i do have a standing order set up for a small amount which im sure is for this will they stop calling me especially at work.

You're going to need to ask them to stop phoning and then send this
phone harassment
You need to check who you're paying the 'small amount' to and see if there's a reference number. If you need to go back to the CAB, they are obliged to keep records for 6 years, but due to storage issues, they don't keep paperwork longer than necessary.
I notice you are in Scotland, so Scottish Law applies, and so if you have not been making payment to it, this debt may well already be statute barred and the debt 'extinguished'. Even if it not quite there yet, you should know that your phone conversation does not count as acknowledgement.

Help!
I am self-employed and received a phone call today from an important client of mine to say he had received a phone call asking for me. My client told them I wasn't there and refused to give my phone number out (thank you!) Instead my client took "Paul from Mackenzie Hall's telephone number along with a reference number and told "Paul" he would pass the message on to me.
My client subsequently called me and passed on the message. Somewhat puzzled I went online to find out more about Mackenzie Hall and discovered they were debt collectors - NOW if my client has done the same this will have jeopardised an important business client of mine and could subsequently lose me money!!! Can I SUE? I should point out we would be talking approx 25K of business
The next question was why would 'Mackenzie Hall' phone a random business contact of mine? I discovered on my "LINKEDIN" profile which I use solely for work a message telling me that someone from Mackenzie Hall had viewed my profile!!!!!! They seem to have picked on one of my clients listed there - what is stopping them calling others?
So...
1. Do i call them back?
2. Alternatively I would like to send the CEO of MAckenzie HAll a message via the same networking site - can anyone suggest any wording?
Thanks0
