Old Debt? Mackenzie Hall

Sounds like MH are entering into the 'panto' mood of 'oh yes it is/oh no it isn't'.
The fact is, though, Caliber - Mackenzie Hall must give you an up to date statement of any 'alleged debt' on request.
They really are the 'lowest of the Low'.
Haha, my friend, just before I took the phone off my mum to talk to the joke, my mum said... "Calm down there is no need to get up set". LOL Thats when I took the phone off my mum and I gave the women a scare when I said, "Hello there, your talking to a more professionalised person in this area now". I was going to say "in BSc qualified area" but I thought they might even be that low to go look into my uni.
But I gave her a good scare made her rattle on and put the phone down. HAHA she even said to me... "Are you insulting my intelligence" I should have replied... yes I am for you to work in MH!

hi all
I've just found this thread...sadly I've found it a week after my BF has paid Mackensie Hall £1300 of out hard earned money for a debt he had in 2000, they wrote threatening letters and told him they could reposess the house and take us to court...so he panicked and paid it on creditcard, now I don't suppose there is anything we can do...guttedPositive vibes:
Spending less than £100 on food shopping in May.
organising cheap/free days out with friends
Negative vibes:
Being £1100 in my overdraft0 -

It is difficult, emma, but not necessarily impossible. If your BF makes a cca request, to MH, and they are unable to provide a true copy of the original signed cca, then he can request them to refund any money that he has paid. However, he would need to be prepared to go 'all the way', including, if necessary, taking MH to court. There are some posters who have, successfully, had money repaid from debt collection agencies, but don't hold your breath.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

We have all being thinking statute barred, but you might be right -minus the CCa, with determination , the CCA route could work.
Also, I assume that the letters could be evidence of breaches of regulations but I bet the operative word is "may".If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
MH have been harrassing me for 2 years now regarding a debt from 16 years ago. The letters and landline texts they send are sporadic. The baliffs are due this week but after reading the postings on this site, i will not be concerned...0

Hi Have you sent them a statute barred letter?

MacKenzie Hall can not send in bailiffs - only a court can order bailiffs to be 'sent around' and since no court in the land is likely to issue a judgement in favour of collecting a debt which has not been acknowledged for 16 years you have, indeed, little to worry about.
If MH send anyone to your door, just remember that that 'person' has no legal right of entry to your property, and must leave immediately when you tell him to:

In short - your paper boy has more authority to ask you for money than these thugs.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.

Thank god I found this forum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have just had the most bizarre conversation with the most rudest of cold
callers in my life from, yep, you guessed it; MACKENZIE HALL
Having received a text message on my landline to call back URGENTLY, quoting a reference number, I called the number they had left (this got me through to a very exsasperated woman called Lorna who works for a trade union in a building down the road to MH and was spending all her time explaining the number was wrong and how she had tried to contact MH to alert them but no joy). I googled MH to try & get correct number; HOW GLAD I DID!!!!!!!!!! I could not believe how many horror stories there were -with alarm bells ringing I called - to be met with one rude woman who put the phone down on me as I would not give her my DOB & address - at the end of the day they could be anyone - undetereed I called again - another woman, not quite as aggressive but still a long way short of polite - again I was asked to give my DOB & address details to which I explained I was not prepared to as 1) my personal data had been 'lost' on the recent CD data blunder by the CSA and was natrually cautious to cold callers and 2) could she first confirm the reason for her call - apparently they are not obliged to tell you why they are calling you before you offer all your personal details - IS THIS LEGALLY CORRECT DOES ANYONE KNOW???
After several minutes of the woman telling me 'she couldn't be bothered to argue the toss anymore ( her exact words) I asked if she could PUT IN WRITING exactly what their call was in reference to so I may check the legitimy of the call she said 'OK- I will send you a FINAL NOTICE if thats what you want' A FINAL NOTICE? Is that not something you get following several attempts to recover a debt? I have had no correspondence from them previously so it will be interesting to see what follows........................0 -
