I think this is as good a deal as any http://www.ebuyer.com/product/199170 for the money ,I personally would avoid Argos Pc World Dixons etc as always find these places dont offer the highest spec for the money ...
  • anyone else have thoughts on the Acer at ebuyer?

Seems a little low on hard drive space but otherwise decent spec I guess.

ACERs can great as long as nothing goes wrong.. Personally I wouldn't buy it. What a strange machine. Webcam, but no built in microphone. :undecided

But I know that you are desperate to buy one after missing the really good bargains.

It's £370. Not really a bargain at all. Even the MSI after the price rise at £354 is cheaper. The ACER has a better processor, but that's it.
  • Does anyone have any suggestions on a sub 300 pound laptop.
    Thanks.

The acer was £349 must have gone up in price:D ,the acer has a better processor and in my opinion that is one of the most important points when buying a laptop , I certainly would not compare the msi with it ...

Just out of curiousity (I have the exact same laptop), what happened to it to leave you needing a new laptop?

You are right, I wouldn't compare it with the MSI.

I would much prefer to have more RAM, better graphics with a HDMI output, a larger screen, a higher capacity HDD, a higher quality webcam, Bluetooth onboard, eSata connection...

You can have the ACER, with it's Pentium processor and nothing else. Not even a built in microphone. A bit silly having to carry a microphone around if you are wanting to use Skype or the like.
You should really do a little more research before you recommend on price only.

Of course it depends on what is important to the buyer. Best to list the pros and cons and let them decide.
  • I have just purchased this laptop :

    http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.208-0178.aspx

Which I have been assured is pretty good quality - although I am by far a techie!

I used a Tesco clubcard £10 off voucher (the 4-week ones?) and double points!

Bought is to buy. Brought is to bring.
