Sub-£350 powerful laptops discussion

Hello everyone,
I am in need of some assistance, in my search for a new laptop two have caught my eye.
HP G61-410SA Refurbished at Currys. £330
or
Advent Roma 3001 Refurbished at Currys. £320
Are either of these worth my time, or should I be looking elsewhere. I ahve about £350 to spend and would like to be able to surf and run Itunes at the same time which seems a problem for my current machine.
Thanks in advance,
John
If you did want to go for the HP from, there is a promo code that will take it down to £313. I'll send it to your PM inbox, as I can't be bothered to see if it's already posted elsewhere.
There is also the MSI CR610 in your price range, as £300.0 -
I haven't read back through this thread so apologies if these have already been posted. Ebuyer currently have the following sub £350 laptops:
Lenovo ideapad G550 - £348.97 inc VAT
Dual Core T4400 2.2 GHz
3GB RAM
250GB Hard disk
Integrated graphics
15.6" screen
DVD Writer
Integrated webcam
Windows 7 Home Premium (32 Bit)
This would be good for general internet stuff, watching DVDs, office use, student use (but not games on max settings).0 -
Thanks Donnie, I am leaning towards the HP as I have heard of them, and extra discount is always good.
Thanks for your time.
John
P.S. From what I have read the Lenovo G550 seems to have some trouble with its touchpad, which turned me off it.0 -

Hi Donnie,
do you mind inboxing me the code please - I like the look of that laptop although the MSI is tempting too!
Thank you

STOP PRESS:
I'm sending my MSI CR610 (from Argos Clearance) back!! Kept coming up with a 'hyper transport sync flood error', which on investigation on the net seems to be due to inappropriate voltage in the AMD processor and/or a BIOS version which it doesn't like. Pity really, as other than the processor problem the msi seemed like a really nice laptop. Great HD screen and solidly built. Was about to order a 17" version of the same model (but with Intel processor) but it sold before I got there. Back to square one. Any good (pref sub-£300) deals about?2021 Targets

Was there a BIOS update available?
You really have to be on top of the website. The secret is out and people are snapping the bargains up as soon as there are introduced. Possibly put off before because of the refurb tag.
There we some good deals on this morning. But as you wrote, they sold out, quickly.0 -
Hi, i've been looking at this laptop (posting for someone else actually):
http://direct.asda.com/eMachines-15.6ins-Laptop%2C-Windows-7%2C-160gb-hard-drive/000599079,default,pd.html
but i've seen on this thread that you don't exactly rate emachines!
It is only going to be used for a bit of surfing (no tv or movies etc), email, word processing - for someone who won't consider a netbook as it's too small a screen for them.
And £275 is really the top of their budget unfortunately... whatdya reckon?
As an aside, has anyone had trouble with quidco paying up if you order through asda.com to collect instore?Excuse any mis-spelt replies, there's probably a cat sat on the keyboard0 -

If you'd prefer a 'name' Argos Clearance have a refurb 12 month guarantee Toshiba Satellite 3GB ram 250GB hard drive for £270 + £3.99 p+p. I'm no expert but it looks a better spec to me. http://moourl.com/toshiba they also have a toshiba L500 2GB ram 160GB hard drive for £260 +pp
Re Asda & quidco - asda no longer accept quidco earnings enquiries0
