Now here's a challenge :T
Can I get a 17" size screen on a new laptop under or near to £350.
I have seen this one at the Co-Op and with my wifes ex employee discount brings it to £350.

As you can imagine, they don't hang around for long once advertised.
Your ordered machine has just a First Gen i3 Processor and is a bit short on extras. It wouldn't be my choice.
The good news is that the have a good returns policy. So you can cancel now and just refuse the delivery and wait for the next round of machines to be released.
There are still a few machines worth a lot, but the decent i3 machines are a bit more.
Since you can get a new DELL second gen i3 for £320 in a supermarket, you should be looking at a discount from that.
The Outlet currently has Second gen i3 machines starting from £284. So, whilst ok, don't represent amazing value.
Bit there are still bargains at the lower end, such as this Toshiba Satellite C850 for £203.98. Spice it up with a little more RAM and it will be fine for most everything.
Note the greater array of ports and the higher quality webcam than your machine.
Don't just look at the Processor.
Darn, I was SO smug and pleased with myself! :j Although, I wouldn't be able to up the RAM, so had to disregard that, way beyond me. And can't you just buy a multiple USB adapter to increase the number of USB ports?'It is better to live your own destiny imperfectly than to live an imitation of somebody else's life with perfection' Elizabeth Gilbert.

Sorry, I'm travelling. I hope that you returned it as suggested. It just has too many caveats at that price point, in comparison to what there is available.
Unless you were born without fingers(unlikely if you are purchasing a laptop), you will be able to add more RAM. It is a very simple procedure with modern machines.
At that price point, I would consider this Toshiba.
There isn't a great deal of difference between this processor and the First gen i3, but this laptop is a much more rounded and modern machine.0 -
Hi Nifty digits
In one of your earlier posts you state that its best to wait till the next round of machines are released.
Is this something that happens regularly??
Does the Argos outlet hold back stock and then advertise it all on masse or are the laptops put on there as and when they come in stock???
I'm looking for a decent laptop for my 11 year old daughter but she's insistent it has to be white or red which limits me !!!!!!!0 -

They have a couple of different models of white Toshiba laptops in stock for £204. £15 spent on adding a 4GB RAM module will bring them up to speed for general use.
They also have a ASUS K Series for £234.
None are cutting edge, but you are limited by the colour choice.
They do have a red toshiba, but it isn't outstanding value at £304.0 -
Hi, I'm not sure if i'm posting in the right place but would really appreciate your help.... My dad is in his 60's and uses his current laptop alot he loves youtube and surfing the net he stores photos on there, and maybe types the odd letter but apart from that doesnt use anything else. He doesnt play games on it either just youtube!
My mum and I would like to buy him a laptop for Christmas but only have a small budget less than £250 really. Is there anything out there for that price that is reliable and good? I know i'm asking alot!
Also I'm not overly keen on refurbished ones. Thanks in advance0 -
Does he need a new laptop? Is there anything he finds difficult or slow on his existing machine?0

My dads current laptop is probably 6-7 years old a Dell one so is jammed with rubbish, it's had several virus and each one been cleared off but it's just got slower and slower and some of the keys are stuck so he has to really push some of them and now I would say its pretty much died probably another virus or something its just old really... He could probably struggle on with it but it takes forever to load these days etc0
