It was an Intel SU2700 I believe, which is quite a bit more powerful than any Atom processor.

Perhaps not the Intel Atom N550.

Try another browser. The PayPal interface has changed and perhaps your browser is not compatible.

    Try Opera or Firefox

I can recommend the HP Probook 4320s for £300(£400-£100 cashback from HP). Much nicer than the usual plastic stuff at this price. You can also get 3 year HP warranty for it which i have done off ebay for £16(ebay item 300554180016).

If you would prefer 15" then there is a Dell 3550 with an i3-2310m processor for a little more.

  • Time is pressing so must get on and choose laptop for DD to take to uni. Was interested in the Samsung R730 for £399 but price gone up £50 now. The red colour was quite appealing (not essential though) and the chipset, HD size and RAM. These three probably more important than the large screen, as the jury's still out on whether it should be 17" or 15.6". Anyone have any comments on weight difference and watching films on these two different size screens?

SaveOnLaptops seem to offer 50 quid warranties for pretty much everything they sell, so presumably not manufacturer warranties. Anybody know about their 3 year warranties? Does seem to give this seller the edge when most places are asking £150 for a 3yr warranty.

Having bought DS a refurb 17" HP last year from Currys, which now has several faults (and the extended warranty for another 3 years comes in at £180), I've decided that refurb isn't worth the hassle/cost (especially when new prices are this low now anyway, and you can get a 3yr warranty for £50). So I'm looking for a new laptop only not refurb.

Yes ;) Take a look now.
  • On a similar note, what makes would people recommend buying/avoiding at all costs (Acer is at the top of my avoid list!)?

Currently looking at laptops by Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Packard Bell, Samsung and Toshiba. Pros and cons for any of these?
