Hmmm thats a good find grumpycrab. It seems to be the same spec apart from it being an Intel CPU and a 250Gb HDD as apposed to AMD CPU and 320Gb HDD.
I'll check out this Toshiba i3 laptop too
Cheers0 -
Hiya,
I've been looking for a cheap laptop for my eldest daughter (who is 9yrs old) for the summer holidays and for when she goes back to school in September. It is also for her birthday at the end of August as well.
I've found this one from HP and Cleverboxes for £299 inc delivery and a HP carry case.
I can't post links because it is my first post but the laptop is on Cleverboxes front page and their site is www dot cleverboxes dot com
I like the fact that it HP as they are a big brand but I don't know Cleverboxes. They seem to have been going for a good few years and get good reviews on Google too.
Has anybody got any thoughts on the laptop spec as it seems great to me and Cleverboxes?
Cheers
Andrew
You can get as similar spec for the same price direct from HP eg.

I've used them before, and returned one I decided against, without any problem.
Regards
EDIT: I see the cleverboxes one comes with a free case, so not directly comparable.0 -

Or if you think that's too much go for a cheap refurb (12 months warranty). £229. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290572280125&clk_rvr_id=236996435944
EDIT: or cheap Toshiba refurb (with fast processor) for £244 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350467403443&clk_rvr_id=236746904678
The £229.99 one is new, not a cheap refurb. You could buy a warranty separately for it for around £50, or less than that (there is one on Ebay for £30 + P&P it seems).0 -
Ok its final decision time - I have looked at all replies and best value seems to be Acer or Toshiba listed above. I have never bought any item this pricey online what is the customer service like for the 2 makes and should that be taken into consideration? Thanks again!
O no just seen this one at argos now!! Any good? eMachines by Acer E640 Triple Core 250GB 15.6 Inch Laptop £299.99. Why so much choice?? I'm hopeless at making decisions!
On the surface it seems that Toshiba may have better Customer Service.0 -

They had over 1000. So I guess they still have nearly 500 to go.0 -
