Sub-£350 powerful laptops discussion

processor is certainly important (it cannot be upgraded) but you can always add more memory; graphics capabilites MAY also be important; budget laptops have very limited resolutions which may be ok if you're just using the laptop's screen (rather than external monitor)the two most important things to look for is the processor and the memory, the hard drive and battery life are just bonuses
As a comparision to the Comet laptop for £350 here's one for £70 less, similar (or better) spec. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1905097755120 -

unfortunately no longer available
just my luck
any idea if it could be found anywhere else at a similar price?0 -
I'm not recommending this but it's a similar spec (smaller disk) for £300 http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Acer_Aspire_5741_988476.htmlIndigomoon wrote: »unfortunately no longer available

Do you mean it's not good and that's why you don't recommend it, or that you don't want to give recommendations as a general rule?
If it's the former, what do you recommend?0 -
Hi Indigomoon , you wanted the same laptop for a similar price and that's what I found. I didn't recommended it because its got an average spec. That's all.0

All truth goes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Then, it is violently opposed. Finally, it is accepted as self-evident.0 -

3 year free warranty this weekend; Note 1. getting the cashback may be time-consuming and 2. the extended warranty mey not be as good as it sounds.GingerWarrior wrote: »...Warranty - 1 year warranty0 -

Fair play - just thought I'd show it.
I'm considering getting a new laptop - as my Sony Vaio VGN-FZ19VN just seems to be very slow, despite me regularly doing disk clean ups and defragging.
Have seen a Macbook in action - but they seem so expensive, but I guess that's what you get with Apple.
I know my parents are looking to get a new laptop after one of their's ended up being unrepairable - so not sure whether there are companies out there to do deals on selling two laptops!2021
