Thank you, just did that and this is what it says:

i agree re: a netbook but if he cannot increase his budget then I'm not sure how to get a laptop for £200.

Would second hand ebay be the way to go?

Is this too good to be true?

    Good in which way?

How much are you willing to contribute?

Well it looks like you can get a laptop for £70 in some cases and looking on past sales. Can that be right?
I'd prob put £50 - £100 in depending on my finances at the time of purchase, i.e day before payday or day after :)

    Don't burden yourself with carp.

You can get an up to date laptop for less than £300. Not much at the £200 level.

This Medion Akoya E5211 is £228.24. But it has failings. Mainly for having Vista installed, a poor battery life and no webcam.

For £60 pounds more you get Windows 7, better battery life and possibly a built in webcam and microphone.

Posted in a separate thread but I also thought it'd be useful here:

Here's a summary of all the places I look when looking for laptop bargains:

    Argos eBay site
    Ebuyer eBay site
    Ebuyer main site
    Dell outlet
    Dell coupon site
    Scan site
    Comet

Your link doesn't work, but I guess you are referring to the Samsung R530 here or here.

    Which is it?

Ok, I'm fine with laptop specs, but clueless on netbook processors etc. So any recommendations (general or specific) for a netbook, preferably Windows OS, used purely for basic net browsing, £200 or under?

    Cheers

Don't forget the 20 Pounds Argos voucher if you spend more than a 100...........
This is excellent value for a new machine at around 160 if you can live with the 3 cell battery.
Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????

Hi there guys, I have looked through the thread a little and noticed there have been issues with curries customer service and fauly items.

I am also having serious issues and if I do not receive replay to the email I sent because nothing will be done about my complaint. I will have to contact ombudsmen / watchdogs.
