Hi
Yes we've had the heating on a couple of times. The early mornings and late in the evenings have been quite cold sometimes here in Yorkshire and even though we are MSEs, I am not prepared to sit feeling cold in my own home, just to save a few pennies.DMP starts June 2012, £38,180.
Balance June 2015 £26,046 (paid off 32%)

What happen to the old days when all people had was a fire in the living room and took hot water bottles to bed??
Bring them back i say!
I don't intend to turn it on for a while yet nothing beats sitting watching tv curled up in my dressing gown with a mug of tea!
On a positive note it is far more enviromentally Pleasing knowing i am not polluting more than i have to.

We have had the heating on nearly all year as it was very cold and wet here and with my son being ill and home so much I had little choice....
These days as I'm making a big effort to be money saving because of these awful price hikes I am being more careful.  Unfortunately my family are not very good at doing with a bit less heat.( ok neither am I, if truth be told)
1 hour in the morning 7-8am and 5- 6pm, and again about 8.30-10pm
I am trying to turn it off every evening and only have it on about an hour, its been lovely here these last few days.
Our electric is currently £36 but will be rising to £50 per month
We have Phoenix Gas to heat the house. Currently £90 but will be increasing from next month to £115 per month I think
We live in a 110 year old Victorian 5 bedroom semi and have double glazing. There are just 3 of us, me, OH and 17 year old son. We are all out during the day and have the usual electric items I think - tumble dryer, 3 computers/ laptops etc washing machine is on once a day, cooker and fridge are very old, approx 24 years so not very economical.
Fiona
Ps I am monitoring our electricity usage and it seems to average about 12 units a day. Do you think that is a lot for us?
Many thanks0 -
Have been crochetting blankets all summer??? I think I must have missed it!
We all have a Blanket each to curl up in of an evening. I have also put up blinds and started to close the curtains early to keep the house a bit warmer and I keep all the doors closed. I have invested in a lot of candles for the coffee table and when they are lit it is surprising how warm it gets. I am lucky that my kids are teenagers so it is safe to burn the candles without fear of them getting hurtBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

I'm holding out - have fleecy everything, socks, slacks, jumper, blankets. Warm as toast without running up bills....
OMG look who just posted before me! :hello:Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
Oi don't knock it - all that fleecy attire is soft and warm and moneysaving and I highly recommend it! :T :A
Doesn't matter how much I wrap up, if my head is cold, I still feel cold.....unless you're suggesting balaclavas as well...........don't answer that. :rotfl:
