Oh my Gd woman -I am sitting with a shirt /vest/jumper and a padded anorak on and I am still freezing. I would be ok if I could run anround and do the housework but I am trying to sit at my computer and do some work.I hate these threads cos I just get annoyed with people in the south with sun etc while here in scotland -IT IS COLD.

My advice would be usb heated fingerless gloves and a hot water bottle on your feet!

  • Bought a small chimney balloon on ebay and easily installed today. A lot of our warmth is lost up the chimney in the lounge often making it the coldest room in the house. Keep active. !!!

I've heard of them. Where did you get yours from if you don't mind me asking?

I'm holding out as long as I can too .... although I have a young lad here with me on a supported lodgings placement who goes around in a t-shirt and bare feet and then complains that he is cold! I am making him use a blanket when he watches tv and I may buy him a pair of those slipper socks as a very large hint! I'm loathe to give the power companies more money than I have to - they are still making profits, I notice .....

  • heating not switched on yet and I'm hoping to hang on until the end of October. I go to bed about 9p.m and watch tv from the warmth of my bed. Also, for Christmas I've asked for a lovely fleecy throw from Primark that costs £8 and is huge, so will keep me cosy. They've got smaller ones for £4 but the big one covers me from head to toe and I'm 5'8" tall so that gives you an idea about it's size.

No heating here yet. Been really warm here today so we used the conservatory until it went cold then moved into the lounge leaving the doors to the kitchen open and the cooker (once turned off) open to cool rather than closed. Enough to take the chill off the room and its been fine.Posting now from a snuggly warm bed.

We presently use 3 units gas a week and 10 of electric. I've no idea if that's good for a family of four, large 3 bed detached or not!
