Where did you stay, the Ritz? barclay? Buckingham Palace maybe....?
For a £1500 authorisation i'd expect gold loo roll LOL :rotfl: :jSome say he is a racist, others say he is a liar but the truth will always prevail...

I'm not going to answer that because there's Daily Mail readers around here waiting to scream at me for spending money and being one of "those" bank employees. What would William Shatner do?0 -

Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone, BarclaysManager in particular, would be able to answer a couple of quick questions for me:
I applied for a Cash Card account with Connect VISA Debit card option around a month ago in a branch where the Barclays employee photocopied my passport and address proof and said the application would be sent off that day along with the certified copies of my documentation. So, how long does something like this usually take to process? as I've not received any letters, phone calls or emails from Barclays, even acknowledgement of my application, at all.
How would I find out if my application is being processed at the moment or if it's been declined (?) or if it was ever received? Would they be able to tell me in branch? Is there a phone number I should call? Should I try to have it opened in branch instead? Would a second application in branch create any problems?
Thanks in advance for your help0 -

Normally the account opening procedure by post takes around 3-4 weeks, you could give them a ring on 0500007234 option 3 and ask them what's happening with your application. HTH

Since you applied in branch (instead of post), I would go into branch and query about it, and take their suggestion/advice. I don't think the staff would just forget/leave the application. Alternatively, call the phone number that sutton111 posted.
To be honest, account openings take at least 5 working days to be opened, and documents sent to your address.
I don't think they would decline your application. I believe that they only decline your application if there is fraud/CIFAS marker.Normally the account opening procedure by post takes around 3-4 weeks, you could give them a ring on 0500007234 option 3 and ask them what's happening with your application. Good Luck.
He applied in branch, not by post though.
By the way, out of curiosity, how did you get that number? It's not on the Barclays website.0 -
It used to be available on the Barclays website and I made a note when I was harassing them about them opening my account.0

It was sent by post the Branch sent it for him instead, it would be the exact same time frame.0 -

I thought the customer sends it off themeselves, as the envelope is provided in the application pack... I assume the customer was provided the application pack...
It seems that other Barclays bank accounts don't take that long. I just hope in the future the Cash Card Account would take 5 working days (just like other bank accounts at Barclays and at other banks) to open instead of weeks for the sake of future customers. Why does it take so long anyway? I wonder why people won't complain about it also.
I feel sorry for those who need to account details immediately/urgently, especially when people want this account to have their benefits or salary, etc paid in....They need to tell them this, before those payments can be credited. I guess they can provide their other bank details for the time being. But what happens if the customer is opening their first bank account - this would be a pain....
