 Sure you've got your priorities right?

Let me explain a little, the car has been stood for 3 months off the road the rear brakes haven't been used so they have become lazy hence the poor reading on the rear brakes.

The front discs, do not show major signs of wear, they had surface rust (which has mainly been removed on the short trip to the TC).

    100_0886.jpg

The disc has plenty of life left in it, the pads over 50%.If the car was in daily use, then the brakes would be working fine.

And yes as part of the engine upgrade, most of the braking system is going in the bin.

The drivers seat was fine before the test, in fact, when it was on the fail sheet, I had to check, I can only guess the runner was damaged and on it's way out, it merely rocks forward, it's not about to come out of it's seat.

The welding is a very questionable point, two people who quoted to repair have seen what he has failed the car on and can't see how it could be justified. I can't remember how the welder explained it but how it needs welding shouldn't of been put on the MOT.

As for the windscreen failure, there is one mark outside of the drivers view which he has put down as a number of marks, baffling as there is only one.

The passenger wiper merely touched the rubber when parked! Whilst the drivers touched the rubber whilst in use!

I may be getting posts mixed up but did you say a while ago you were doing a trackday car?, If so I assume this is it?

It's why I posted really. Will it be used on track only, ie, trailered there?

All trackdays I have been on insist the car should be posess a current MOT, but I have never been asked to produce one, I guess it's what it looks like that counts.

Rip the guts out of it, reduce weight etc, chances are you will want to fix lightweight seats anyway, sort the engine and fit new brakes etc.

Without asking favours if you can find an MOT station that is motorsport friendly, he make take a slightly different perspective on what matters in your case, and what does not. To give an idea of what I mean my garage owners son who is the chief mechanic races super stox. I took him my last kit/track car. I had fitted motorbike type headlamps (smaller/lighter),which had a different beam pattern to car type. He asked if I ever got flashed by other road users, "I don't know, It's never been out in the dark!!!!"

    Anyway it passed;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

you get to choose whichever you want, you can have them delivered to a fitting station of your choice from thier website, or have them delivered to your doo,but this doesnt cover fitting if you have them delivered to your door.

    Yeah, you are correct.

The temporary road/track hybrid will be completely standard looking, running with uprated brakes and suspension to match the engine.

Long term, I may go down the fully stripped out route, but at the moment without a garage I don't something obviously quick sat on the drive with an empty house 8 hours a day.

Unfortunately due to limits in our budget, it has to remain road legal as it is also my car.

You had some photos to post, you should go to https://www.imageshack.us and upload them :) I'll post some photos once I get the car back on the road :)

    Nice pic ...

And you expect MOT inspector to see the discs that well during the test.....

You know they don't take the wheels off for MOT, so you should really clean the discs up beforehand.

I'd hope so, as that is the rear of the disc, the side he has failed it on (the disc in the photo is face down). As he looks from under with his torch he checks the rear of the discs for wear.

I'm picking up my new rears tomorrow, and fronts on Sunday. I've taken Wednesday off work to fit them, I'd not touched brakes before removing the disc for the photo above so expect problems especially as the front brake upgrade requires new pipes.

Bri - Looks like a cool car, i googled them at lunch, did you replace it?

Unfortunately not Keith, I had a serious accident last year, cycling not motoering believe it or not, and am now not flexible enough to use the car so it had to go. Guy that bought it lived near knockhill track in Scotland. Does the track regularly, tells me nothing under £65k can get near it, It was a cool car.
