'tis normal.Seems like the objective of this post is going somewhere else:beer:
Disolves to lowest common denominator,;)

I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Hi Guys
My car MOT failed today due to following reasons- Nearside Bonded suspension unit deteriorated and cannot function as intended [2.4.F.3]
- Offside front tyre has a cut [4.1.c.1a]
- Nearside rear tyre has ply or cords exposed [4.1.c.1b]
- Nearside rear direction indicator incorrect colour
- Offside rear direction indicort incorrect colour
- Offside rear brake recording little or no effort [3.7.a.4a]
Dear me, you newbies, call that an MOT fail? You want an MOT fail. This is an MOT fail...

shocking
Yup, my baby failed last week, I'll be getting my hands dirty next week to fix it. Some are very questionable, such as the welding, brakes, wipers, spare wheel cradle...
I think the tester was in a bad mood, as he failed everything which was in the slightest bit worn, but passed one of the most knackered lower arms I've ever seen!0 -
Road Hog - calm down..........The only reason for taking car in with basic faults such as bald tyres and dodgy lights is to get an idea on whether it is worth paying to get the slightly more major things done. Otherwise you would complete these small jobs before presenting for an MOT.
As for buying the parts the garage will of course ne marking them up in price, but if you supply the parts you can expect the garage to then mark up the labour cost.
Is the estimate expensive? Perhaps but really depends where you live.
I meant to include the above as well...
Sorry - but you can see where I was coming from, and if you looked back to previous post (as above) you would've worked it out.

Deary me. I'd have a heart attack getting a fail list that long. I'd be starting to think it was scrap yard time. Was there a page 3 as well?

Page 3 was the retest information.
It's my toy, I knew it was going to fail on emissions as it's burning oil, but didn't expect a fail sheet so long. I'm quite shocked by some of the things that they have failed it for, as other people can't see why they would fail it! The wipers for instance, work perfectly and are less than a year old.
She is off the road now, I've got someone to do the welding, a new horn to fit, new seat runner, complete new brakes including upgraded front ones, I will put a spare wheel in the carrier, got a guy fitting a new engine and new MOT
Car is about to gain about 55bhp over standard, but the garage who failed it have lost a long term customer as I don't accept that the car was worthy of a 21 point failure.0 -

Sure you've got your priorities right?

Another view is, having an MOT certificate only indicates that your vehicle has passed the basics test within the last 12 months for minimum road worthyness.
It is still your responsibility to ensure that it remains safe to remain on the road at all times. There are some very serious fails there, such as the drivers seat, which means that you could momenatarily lose control of the car if it were to shift. Your rear brakes are non existent, which means if you have to brake hard, the back end may overtake the front end, plus you have no parking brake (leaving it in gear is not the answer).
If you drove the car to the test centre (even if you didn't you may have been driving it at other times) then I as a tester would be pretty arsed off about a car in that state been driven on the road, and perhaps I would read the riot act (translates as, not give you any leniency on anything) to you.
Now, I know probably most of us have done something, like driven on a worn tyre for a bit longer than we should of done because funds have been tight, but yours doesn't compare to that, it is a catalogue of faults. It's not as if you can even claim that you're a noob and didn't realise the situation, as you quite clearly understand the mechanics of the car.
So, perhaps there is a different view point to be had.0
