    Hi Guys

My car MOT failed today due to following reasons
    • Nearside Bonded suspension unit deteriorated and cannot function as intended [2.4.F.3]
    • Offside front tyre has a cut [4.1.c.1a]
    • Nearside rear tyre has ply or cords exposed [4.1.c.1b]
    • Nearside rear direction indicator incorrect colour
    • Offside rear direction indicort incorrect colour
    • Offside rear brake recording little or no effort [3.7.a.4a]
Garage has quoted me £475 parts and labour and I strongly feel they are over charging me. Can someone direct me to only car spare parts website where I can buy these parts and get them fitted by garage.

When they say incorrect indicator colour does it mean changing indicator amber or changing with orange blub?

    I'm confused by your question?

Take your bulb out, go down to your local motor factors and ask for 4/5 bulbs (best to have spares) like that but in orange

Or you can buy bulb paint

What people have to understand these days is, manufacturing is cheap and labour (that includes the workshop) is expensive.

Therefore whilst the parts may seem reasonable, it is the fitting/repair cost that will really push the price up.
Our labour rate is a fixed price. If customers want to supply their own parts then fine. Our rate will NOT go up because of this or any other reason.

Not all garages rip you off - you shouldn't tar everyone with the same brush.

The only reason for taking car in with basic faults such as bald tyres and dodgy lights is to get an idea on whether it is worth paying to get the slightly more major things done. Otherwise you would complete these small jobs before presenting for an MOT.

As for buying the parts the garage will of course ne marking them up in price, but if you supply the parts you can expect the garage to then mark up the labour cost.

Is the estimate expensive? Perhaps but really depends where you live.
Some might - but they would rip you off on parts too given the chance..
