One way streets are there for traffic, they don't affect pedestrains. You wouldn't drive into the back of a car parked on an urban clearway just cos 'it shouldn't be there'.ClareEmily wrote: »I'm sure you would feel the same if you were a parent of the boy concerned?
I'd be kicking myself for letting a 4yr old walk out into the road. Or for not teaching him to look both ways before crossing a road. Kids can't understand dangers and judge speeds
For this accident and the events surrounding it he got 300hrs community service, 5yr driving ban, £120 to pay, and 8ths in jail
In march, a local teenager was stabbed to death in an unprovoked attack, the murderer was given 13yrs in jail
Prisons are full to the brim and we all pay to feed, water and heat these criminals. Atleast with community service they're doing something vageuly productive0 -
On the flipside of this, have a read of this case:

Lets just hope he doesnt get his £300k0 -

£300,000 isn't as much as it sounds, given the context of specialist care for the rest of his life. In any event, if/when the case reaches court a fair settlement (if any) will be agreed.0 -
Hi redux - I can't see that this thread has been merged

Its not the money that irks me really, its the ridiculous things the parent is stating. To expect the shop to teach a 13 year old how to cross the road is laughable.0 -
Hi everyone,
I should tell everyone that I got caught twice in the few months for not driving with insurance and that is why I have had 6 points twice in the short space of time. The reason why i had no insurance is because i was declared bankrupt and could not afford to pay the insurance (no excuses I know) i have insurance now. Since I have held my license since 1994 I have had insurance every single year but unfortunatley I lost EVERYTHING, my home, my business my life. Anyway I had a thread entitled "license revoked HELP" which explains my situation, if anyone wants to bother reading it. I am not looking for any kind of sympathy and i regret having no insurance but please do not compare me to the daily mail story.0 -
How have you managed to get insurance with 2 IN10s?
I'd have thought you would be looking at 5k+ in premium for a year :eek:0 -
I got caught without insurance about 4 months ago and my case was ongoing but straight after I got caught the second time I bought insurance. it is only now that they have endorsed my license.0

a few years ago i had way more than 12 points on my licence and drove legaly, it only came to light when i hired a van for a weekend and couldnt produce my licence paper counterpart, the hire company phoned dvla to check my status and thats what they told them, i was their at the time and they put me on the phone as i wanted to queery it with the person at dvla, the upshot of it is that dvla just add the points as instructed by courts, they only ban you if you if the court says so, so if your picking up points here and their but the court doesnt check your driving history then the ponts keep getting added.
the woman told me i was perfectly legal to drive, and the hire company were happy to let me take a van.
although it was at damn high insurance cost:rotfl:0 -

and your insurers don't know you have 2 IN10s?
You need to tell them NOW (and be prepared for your insurance to be cancelled for hiding a material risk)0
