He hasn't got a licence or insurance. He reversed the wrong way down a one way street. After realising he had run over someone, he drove back over the dying boy again before driving off to try and persuade a friend to lie to the police so he won't get caught.
'Hardly' dangerous?and he spent 8mths in prison over the accident anyway
No, he was sentenced for lying, not for the accident.0 -
As it's a pedestrian I don't see why it really matters if it's a one way street, you should look both ways before crossing, the boy didn't, and paid the ultimate price. Maybe his parents shouldn't have let him out on his own in the first place?
This is the daily mail, they love to sensationalize. The guy could've been reversing a few feet out from a parking space if the car infront was too close. If you had the windows up and radio on would you even notice hitting something that small? I've hit foxes etc at 60mph and you barely feel it. The article says he drove back over him, if the boy hadn't come out under the front then you wouldn't know he was there.
So, maybe he was backing up a couple feet out a parking space, hits a kid without realsing then carries on his merry way. Later he hear's on the grapevine that the police are after him and begs the owner to keep quiet as he has no insurance0 -

come on you cant be serious, you must be on a wind up surely, somebody not only reverses over somebody, but then drives over them again going forward, and you expect us to believe that he did not notice hitting something, if you are being serious, i sincerly hope you cant drive, as i would hate to cross the road with you in the vicinety,:mad:Take every day as it comes!!0 -
A big lump of metal weighing up to 2000kgs versus a soft bit of flesh weighing 20/30kg? I honestly doubt you'd feel it unless they went under a wheel. The kid could've still been under the car when the driver pulled forward, and the paper branded this as running him over 'again'0

"Another witness, Alvaro Gonzales, said he saw the Megane reverse "really quickly" and then move forward back over the stricken boy.
He said he saw the passenger, now known to be Adam Keates, leave the vehicle and walk over to Casey, appearing to shake him.
Diprose, who only had a provisional licence and was not insured, got out and looked around and Mr Gonzales said he "seemed more concerned for his own wellbeing".
Diprose, who the court heard had taught himself to drive on a beach, was seen to walk away from the scene before jumping into the garden of a property in Ryelands Road."

See, it always helps to have the facts rather than a daily mail story
Still doesn't sound like he saw the kid when he drove forward
He sounds like the sort of person who'll drive whilst banned so if/when they get caught they'll eventually end up behind bars again0 -
Also in some other countries third party insurance is included in the cost of fuel, so it's almost impossible to drive without insurance. Imagine how much money could be saved with a system like that, bet a large proportiton of my premium pays for advertising/telesales and covering uninsured drivers.0
