Really? You definitely won't believe this then...

I suggest we hand this "gentleman" over to Murphy the Cat and let him deal with him!
Complete b*****d! - definitely needs shooting - Murphy get your gun!"there are some persons in this World who, unable to give better proof of being wise, take a strange delight in showing what they think they have sagaciously read in mankind by uncharitable suspicions of them"(Herman Melville)0 -
Still doesn't sound like he saw the kid when he drove forward
you are contradicting yourself now, first you say that he may not have known he run over the boy, which he obviously did as he stopped the car, got out, saw what he had done, then proceeded to leg it, and try to get his mate to cover for him, which as it turns out now was a fruitless task anyway, as a witness had seen him do it, i am not looking for an arguement but you cant stick up for this fella, and why would you want to, if the facts in front of your eyes tell you otherwise, Dave
Take every day as it comes!!0 -

I should imagine after getting 6 points the first time OP couldnt afford it the 2nd time.

I'm not sticking up for him, I just think the punishment he's been given is fairly approiate. It was just an accident that happened in a split second, it's not like it's a pre planned murder0

oh and they were both for this year- so its less than 3 years.
With 2 IN10s in the space of 12 months?
Did you win the lottery?! :eek:0 -
who merged these two threads?
As Tom pointed out, the totting up procedure is over a shorter period than the continued appearance on the licence. It would be the timing of the first offence that will determine whether there is a disqualification, not the last two.
It sounds like there is some correspondence missing: the notification of the hearing, which has obviously happened without the OP's presence, and a letter about the outcome, with a request for payment of the fine. Presumably the licence came from Swansea rather than the court.
Having never been disqualified, I'm guessing, but I assume that either the licence would have a disqualification written on it, or that it would not have been sent back to the holder0 -

It all sounds a bit strange to me - if you have 12 points within 3 years (let alone within the OPs 12 months!) then it is an automatic ban, yes you can avoid this, but it involves arguing your case and plea-ing hard in court, not just that they've taken sympathy on you in a letter and sent you your active license back.
When I got banned for 6 months(totting up - I've got a slightly heavy right foot and seem to have a knack of finding hidden speed cameras) the court requests that you send your license back to the DVLA, then you can pay for a new one after the ban period is over, and in the section for endorsements it says 'DISQUALIFICATION - 6 MONTHS - FROM XX/XX/XX TO XX/XX/XX.
This is never taken off apparently
OP - did you recieve a letter summonsing you to court for the last offence? You should have done automatically, as if the points that count be awarded to you would take you over the limit then you need to go to court. As far as I'm aware (and I could well be wrong) but it's not usual practice to be banned by letter....(apart from licence revoke)Aiming for that elusive 'debt free' by Christmas 2012

So the fact he drove down the wrong way of a one way system.... oh thats ok then...
he shouldn't of been on the road in the first place, he didn't have the appropriate licence, insurance etc.Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?0
