  • I ordered a phone from these people. I was sent an email to send them an image of government pictured id plus an image of the credit card used to purchase (they said I could blank out part of the credit card number). I sent them my government issued id plus the image of my credit card. They canceled my order and it took me several online chats and days and days of emails to get this response "I am so sorry for any trouble brought. I checked your order with our financial department and they told me that your photos can not prove your payment is legal. Instead, the photos you provided to them seems have problem to be real. So our financial department to cancel your order and arrange full refund on". I am upset because all the hassle to try to find out what went "wrong" - I was without a phone for a week trying to resolve - and on top of everything else I have incurred two kinds of expenses as a result of this. One, the exchange rate my credit card/bank used to process the refund was less favorable than the exchange rate the credit card/bank used to process the charge. Per a call to my credit card/bank (spoke with four people getting transferred back and forth) that is my loss. Plus I was charged TWO foreign transaction service fees by the credit card/bank relating to this transaction which according to the credit card/bank (spoke with four people) that is my loss. Obviously not too happy with my credit card/bank but frankly this would never have happened if lightinthebox did not arbitrarily decide my verification information was not "legal" (although it was a government issued id with my picture and name) plus my credit card.

:spam: So much spam on this thread! Please ignore all the posters with one post. I have reported them, but MSE are not getting them removed.

They are incorrect about the import charges. You pay them all upfront.
  • I purchased a coat from this company; the comments said it was coming out small. I ordered the next size up (XL), which when received was too small.
Now I have to pay return postage and they won't refund the full value.
Very unhappy shopper, as I have to reorder and the price has gone up. No way I'm an XXL
  • I will never use light in the box again. I live in Spain and needed a black and white outfit for a colour themed wedding. I ordered 2 dresses, paid the cost and delivery fee, total 48 euros. The order arrived which was delivered by UPS with an extra charge for a special certificate to allow the import of Lithium Batteries. The certificate is stamped by Light in the Box. No one is taking responsibility and the extra charge was 27 euros, more than half the price again. To top it all they are awful. Poor quality material, miss shaped, the zip only opened the outer side not the lining so very difficult to get on and 1 of the dresses is blue and white. I am not paying to return them as I don't believe that I will be refunded so it would be more money after bad. DO NOT BE TAKEN IN BY THE LOW PRICE. The photos on the site are the genuine article and they then make a cheaper version by copying the picture as best as they can. I cannot believe any of the one off good posts.
  • Evie, I would strongly advise you not to use this company. We needed a dress for our daughter's prom and paid £14 for a four day delivery. 5 days later they hadn't even processed the order but there is no way to cancel as there is no link to customer services. they do have a live chat but they just direct you back to orders, where there is no way to contact them. We have just received the dress three weeks too late, having lost our £14 as well as £20k for a dress which she will probably now never wear. To make matters worse, assuming I can eventually contact them somehow, their small print says they will only refund half the cost of the dress but we accepted delivery as I don't trust them to even do that. What a complete waste of £80 overall. AVOID
  • We'll see what they're like I've ordered a few bits but not dresses
  • I ordered a wall print which cost £78, including shipping and insurance.
Light In The Box thought it was a good idea to value the parcel at £120.
I had to pay VAT on £120 instead of £78.
They're not only deceitful by not making it clear that they are in China but also incompetent.
I would avoid them at all costs.

I will be claiming the excess VAT back from HMRC but it's a load of messing.
  • Hi I've been reading everyone's reviews, I was going to buy from this company but was scared too due to poor reviews, so I ordered my dress from Evica the dress was stunning, good quality, excellent service and they are based in London , hope this helps

Light in the box works the same way as Aliexpress and Ebay, there are going to be bad sellers, with LITB it seems to make out like its not. They're mostly Chinese, which is fine if you know what you're doing when dealing with the customs etc.

I prefer to use Aliexpress, and use the feedback system, which you should be using if it has the ability. I've not ordered a dress from there, however, I have ordered plenty of other things that required fitting and measurements, and not had any issues.
  • I ordered 3 fur shrugs and today they tried to deliver them asking for £27 for delivery and I could pay with a cheque or cash!! I do not use cheques and do not carry that amount of money around so I sent him away! I looked at my order and have already paid £20 shipping fee and as the total amount was £108 you can see for 3 shrugs they were not expensive! If I paid £27 plus the £20 I already paid and none of them was any good it would probably cost me the same again to return them so I am out of pocket by £94!!!! I am not taking delivery when they try again on Monday, they can take them back! The trouble is will they take the £27 + the return cost out of the paypal I have paid already? I think I too will be contacting paypal to see if they can help!! Hope this makes sense, I am so angry!!
